Secrets from Louisiana

So glad you have stopped by for a visit. We have many secrets here in Louisiana. We are a quilters haven because of all the interesting things we have in our environment to see, smell, taste and feel. Our flowers are like perfume in the evening and the colors explode in your eyes. Our seafood is the best in the world and is bountiful from the Gulf.

The palette is non stopping.

Day Six

Today is day six of rolling around and not being able to be independent. YUG! This is not me and I have turned my DH into a domestic! Who knew. We go to the doctor today to have the foot dressing changed. It will be wonderful to have this boot thingie off even if it is 10 minutes, try to sleep with it. Don't have a  nightmare blood will fly.heheheee

I have almost finished the binding on quilt number one and have quilt number 2 ready to bind. I sewed on my Animals of Louisiana squares and almost have one finished. I will be cutting a mystery quilt this week from Quilters Club of America called City Streets it takes 6 weeks to complete, lots of time to get it done. New directions each Friday how sweet is that

I'm Back

No I didn't fall off the planet, just got busy teaching and sewing and traveling. We are all fine and am enjoying what life brings each day. Actually glad to wake up every day and have another 24 hours to enjoy.

Steve is working for Big hank every day and so is Mike. Little Hank is home from LSU for the summer and is at SLU in Hammond doing and organic chem class and working for his Dad.

I am sewing with girlfriends, vol. with Habitate and getting stuff organized for a gaint yard sale and a large donation to the resale store. I have to donate some quilts. I have way too many stacked up. I will try to sell some also in Georgia in October.

My brothers house is being redone by habitate, so now it is livable. We help all we could but it just got away from us needing major repair from water damage. It caused structure problems.
Dixie is doing great, what a wonderful dog, I was so lucky to adopt her!

Nicolus and Naomi
will be coming for several weeks this summer, they are getting so big and they are so smart in school.  Nic is a war buff at 9 years old. Nay is a fashioneaster are 8 years old. She love shiney stuff to wear. (Just like her MMP)

We have the retreat set for March 2014 on March 23-30th, filled in 45 minutes of posting. My girls love a good time, and off course it in is Branson.

Another Boring Day

I don't sit well!!!!! Did we know this???? I have projects planned for several weeks but they are now doing it for me. Poor Steve has never had to take care of me before and he is pooped. Too much to take care of, welcome to my world. By the end of next week he will have to learn to cook or it will be take out. I planned 2 weeks of meals and then it is up to him.

Foot feels ok not a problem, it is not being able to walk is the PROBLEM. Ok enough of the wining!

I will be alone today as he needs a break to work on my car. Lets see how that works out.

Hugs,

ps Lorie dropped off 5 boxes of fabric, somebodies stash, so I asked my friend to come pick it up. Christmas

Home from the Hospital

Well surgery was a breeze, stayed awake took a foot block instead of the knock out your brain stuff. What is not a breeze is not being able to weight bare on the foot. I am not a sit down stay in bed sort of girl. Steve has been the step and fetch guy and he says being the mama is hard work...hahaha I just said REALLY???? The dog is really confused as to who to listen to, she is coping well.We will run out of prepared food tomorrow so we will see if he can cook or will it be caring in.

Mt schedule consists of basin bath, roll to the front, breakfast, roll to the computer, roll to the sofa, tv, quilt, read, sew stare at the ceiling, roll to the kitchen, lunch, repeat the above. My My this is thrilling.

Monday at 2 pm the doctor will change the bandage and check the pin in the second toe and the incision on the big toe. Will I ever do this again, probably not, no pain to speak of just a real sit down, lay down do nothing for several to 3 weeks. This girl has toooooooooooooo much energy for this, hope I never have any thing major. I have been so lucky in life with my health. I know what goes in in the food line and what this body needs so far. Thank GOD I saw the light 30 years ago and stopped smoking and hit the blacktop walking.

The rant is over and have a great day!

Good Morning All Lets Catch Up!

It is a rainy cold day in Louisiana. A great day for sewing, cooking and cleaning. Lets start with sewing and cooking and if there is time left cleaning. I have 2 big quilts that need their bindings finished, a tabletopper that needs appliques finished and work on my Louisiana swamp animals. there is always more organizing of my endless pattern collection.

Little Hank is still mending from his surgery but is back at LSU and is doing well. It was nice nursing him back to health. We watched every Harry Potter movie made and then some.

I am having foot surgery tomorrow and am not looking forward to it, 3-4 weeks recovery. Hand work is on the menu.

Today I will cook for the week as Steve doesn't cook and I will want to eat. Great planning.

Will keep you up to date.

Nice Day

Good evening all! What a great day, Steve and I had our teeth cleaned today for our anniversity. You know you are getting old when the high light of your morning is teeth cleaning. We were married 48 years ago today. whoohoo

I had the pleasure of speaking with cousin Bonnie today and will try to visit her next Tuesday. Spoke with Robbie in Oregon ,was so nice we talked our ears off. We  went to supper with little Hank and Big Hank, very nice. Steve and I went to lunch at the cafe, enjoyed seeing our townies.

Can you believe that Steve and I gave each other the same card, what are the odds of that.

I am sitting with Little Hank tomorrow and Friday, we are going to watch movies all day, what fun.

have a great day!

Lets Catch Up

Good morning all, no I didn't fall off a cliff, life just got tight.Hank's surgery went fine he is at Emily's tring to get on his feet. He gets the stitches removed from his inner cheek tomorrow and they will take the packing out of his nose. He is such a sweetie young man. The doctor will see him every six months to make sure it doesn't come back. He will come back to his Dad's this week and then back to school.

I have 2 big quilts at the quilter's and have made 12 name tags for my backpacks, love doing little sewing thingies and love backpacks.Who knew! I am going to machine quilt a quilt today that has been hanging around for several years. I am beading the flowers on this quilt. This spring I am going to attemp painting a sewing machine, guess what color.....screaming royal PURPLE. What a surprise.!!!!!

I made my spring list of things to do. I will lean out my sewing machines and will donate fabric. I will set up the cottage a little different with room for someone to sew with me out there. I am going to clean my favorite 10 machines and will go through my mags and pull out patterns I want to keep and pass on the rest.

The veggie container garden will be set up as soon as my foot surgery is complete. Don't have a date yet but it will be soon as I have been cleared for it. Raking  is always a problem as my upper arm strengh is a little lacking and as my friend Sheryl stated "I am a girl afterall."

Today I am not leaving the house as it stormed all night and will rain again today , staying in sewing etc. Cooked yesterday for the week so I am good.
