Secrets from Louisiana

So glad you have stopped by for a visit. We have many secrets here in Louisiana. We are a quilters haven because of all the interesting things we have in our environment to see, smell, taste and feel. Our flowers are like perfume in the evening and the colors explode in your eyes. Our seafood is the best in the world and is bountiful from the Gulf.

The palette is non stopping.

Rainy Cold and Time to Sew

The sweet children are leaving this morning and Mike and I are going to say goodby at the greatgrandmothers home. I have put all Christmas away and will finish the floors when the rain stops on Monday, yes 4 days of rain.I love this kind of weather. Nice fire going, soup on the stove, fabric piled up and a machine sewing well. What more do we need?????????

I am going to work on Naomi's doll today, she has a head with fabric hair, now to the body. This is a great project, came from Quilting Arts Magazine.I have to cut my fabric for the NYE Mystery for tomorrow and Saturday, fill my bobbins, oil my 1971 Bernina as she is the only one working well of my 3 Bernina machines. When we pick up my chair in Baton Rouge for the RV, I will drop off my other 2 for repair.Thats my plan!!!!!!!

I am looking forward to retreat on the 17th,the girls are really fun to be wiwith. I will be sitting with Dawn this year and really like her.I am already thinking about projects.....

To my girls on the west coast, stay warm and please be careful on the roads.
Ice is not nice except in snow cones!!!!!!!I miss you guys and only wish we were really rich and could visit regularly.Lets dream. The bus will stay parked with fuel as high as it is and so will my butt. I have lots to do and 10 new novels to read and lets not forget the fabric in the cottage.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU111111

WHEN THE SAINTS COME MARCHING HOME.........

What do you think about our boys in Black and Gold now??? What a tight game and hands off to Jimmy Graham and the team. Toooooooooo Bad Atlanta lets rock in the playoffs and let win on the second of January. Would like to be at that game.

I am watching the kiddies while Mike works this week up 4am and in bed by 9pm, thats the ticket. They are watching cartoon today and we took Christmas down. They helped me put it up before Thanksgiving, so it has been up more that a month. We are going to vacumn when Steve's takes the boxes to store.

Took an hour off and reconnected with my NP at a new doctors office, The doctor's name is Johnny Walker(Red Lable)isn't that funny????? I will have to find a new heart specilist when I need some regular tests performed and a new surg. to have a colon screen. No problem just routine stuff.
My new doctors office is a family practice. They seemed really nice.

I cut out a doll pattern last night and will think about it today and may start on it later in the week. The children go home on Thursday to Shreveport with Mary their other grandmother. They are a real treat to be with. Little Hank came to Play with them at lunch time , he was working at his Dad's down the street. My 3 grands love each other. Little Hank is so independent, he cooks and cleans and brings his own hot lunch to work.He will do fine at LSU next year.

I am still working on my Christmas Card list, hope to finish by tonight.

Last Supper

We had a wonderful supper with Jean and her family, thank goodness, I am ready to get back to my WW eating. Gave the Red Velvet Cake to Andrew and the Sour Cream Cake and the pecan pie went to Michael. Now all that is left is chicken salad sandwishes.

had a wonderful visit with my family on Christmas Eve, my guys were so funny and the children were great. Divie did wonderfully with the children, she only wants to eat Mike , must be his big voice....She is a wonderful dog, really sweet and take directions well.

Little Hank came over late when he got back from Texas with his Mom.Nice visit. I will see Naomi and Nicolas Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as Mike will be working so it is up at 3:30 for 3 days.I don't care as I am a early riser anyway, "The Days Are A Wasting" if you sleep late, who said that??? My wonderful Grandmother Laura. Up before the chickens and down with sun, her motto!!!!

I am going shopping this morning for the doorbuster sales, and then I am going to be sewing a while, I have a tabletop for Christmas that needs finishing and then binding and finish my holiday cards. I don't have to cook, meatballs and speg. and eggplant in frin and of course sandishes.
ThankGod only 2 servings of potato salad(my personel favorite) left.

Have a great Sunday. Remember the reason!

Picked up a Cord of Firewood 4x4x16 feet

Got it home left it on the trailor covered for another day. The old gray mare ani't what she used to be!!! Had a great day made bookmarkers today to go with the books I am giving for Christmas. The pattern was in the Quilting Arts Christmas issue. I am going to make everything in that book. Love it!!!!

Yes Barbara you "P"'s are doing great and the Ravens were too much for us, now we play the best of the best this weekend Atlanta. I can only pray for this one. We need Chris Ivory back and healthy.

Worked on the retreat today that is the first week in May. Should be nice.
Steve worked at Hank's today and little Hank stopped for a visit, I am going to miss that boy when he is at LSU next fall. I will just have understand 18 is sort of big for a baby, but he will always be my baby.

The first week in January I am going to live at the cottage, getting rid of UFO's and sorting fabric and getting rid of somethings that I don't use and will never do. Hold me to that Linda Miller.

Who Dat, Who Dat Game Day Down With the Ravens

Slept great all night!! What a joy at this age.Bonnie got back from Florida she called last night to thank me for all the stuff I hauled to her house yesterday as I won't have time this week. I took lunch to her husband yesterday and we had a great visit.. His cancer treatments are having a toll on him, he is frail but he enjoyed his Popeyes for lunch. It was a wonderful visit.

I am finished with everything for Christmas so I will tidy up the house this week and cut fabric for several mystery quilts and next week will be cottage week if the kiddies aren't here. UFO's Linda to keep or give away, nothing like a clean slate for a new year. heheheeee

Retreat will be at my house this coming year in April and the Microltel in Ponchatoula. We don't have enough for the retreat center, maybe next year we will. I have plenty of sewing room and we can cook and haul in food, life is easy when you quilt with your "sistas".

Everything Christmas this year, all quilts will be Christmas Fabrics or Christmas colors. I will be selling them in Georgia in October!!!That makes choosing fabric really easy. My NYE mystery will be, guess what colors red, green and white. I am so easy!!!!!

I am cutting doll bodys today, they are from The Quilting Arts Mag for December, I am enlarging them a little. Will let you guys know how they work out.

Cooking eggplant dressing today, just love that veggie, could eat it everyday, strange have eaten tomato soup for lunch all week, can't get enough, probably didn't eat enough tomatoes this summer!!!!

Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies

Another great day in Texas!!!!!! had a great leftover dinner of turkey and dressing with Tony and Joyce last night. The coach is clean and we have a mountain of laundry to do. We will stay in Texas until Friday then we will head home and arrive on Saturday. Dixie has been a great traveler and earned a new bed and halter, of course it is hot pink for a "rocking Girl".

We sent Al Johnson to Tania and Armand's to check buses, good thing some were not working. That would have been a really BAD thing. We are looking forward to seeing our buddies on Sunday. I am missing my kiddoes also. We have had comments on the texts and facebook.

I have to wrap my gifts when I get home and sit back and plan our Christmas party for my family on Christmas Eve. I have a quilting party next Thursday and have to remember to bring rolls and breads and a gift.
Also next week is a day of beauty, I will need it, my hair which is naturally wild and really lived up to its nature, WILD and WOOLly. Is that me??????????????

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my special Turkeys!!!!!!!!! We will be going to cracker barrel in a little while for a nice turkey dinner. We have been packing for our trip and will leave tomorrow. After lunch we will grocery shop and go by the ATM for some cash. I have to pack my quilting stuff and get ready for the big game at 3pm.

The house is decorated for Christmas and gifts are bought. When I come home I will be helping Armand and Tonia get him up and moving. He has been in the hospital for 15 days and is still having some issues. Now they are talking a pacemaker. If you are a diabetic and think this can't happen to you, please think again. This disease kills all major organs without the proper treatment which includes what you eat and how much. Think about that when you don't plan your meals.

Love you guys,

Hell Yes WE Won WhoDat Power

What a game, showed them to the door! Looking great even with half the players out with issues. The kiddies have arrived and I will be at MIke's babysitting at 4:45am for the next 3 days then sleep for a while to retune my system, grandma ain't what she was at 30.

We have the tree up and will decorate with the many, many moose sometime today and then maybe off to the show this afternoon. PawPaw is on his own this morning. He is jumping for joy, says he has things to do. My house is clean, laundry is done and blocks are 90% complete.whohoo, whohoo

House is decorated with Christmas but need a few things for outdoors, trip to hobby Lobby is in order, maybe tomorrow because Wed. is cookie making day with all 3 grands, 6,7 and 17 years old. Little Hank all 6 foot of him will be helping me out. He has been accepted at LSU and SLU Universities for next fall. I will really miss him ,he has been the joy in my heart even with his mother bailing out on him. We have all taken up the slack and he has done well.LOVE that boy(man). I have all his quilts saved for his sons if and when he has one or two.Stars, Harry P. and Star Wars. When he was 6 he got his first Harry novel and read that thing cover to cover. When I helped him with his school work he would say I hate reading, then I would find him in a chair curled up with thst big Harry novel just reading away. Hated the readers in school loved the BIgBooks . I would stand in line at midnight to get his book first for him and away he would go reading them in no time. He has 3.98 average as a senior and has completed 4 collage maths all ready and freshman English before he graduates. Guess all that nonreading of the novels paid off.

Now to go and play with Naomi and Nicolas today!!!!!!!!!I only see them about 10 times a year so have to really pack in the good times.

What a day! Had a good time at quilt meeting, worked on my blocks, grocery shopped and grilled. I even walked the dog, even the dog was surprised! We unloaded the trailer with the backhoe. 15 foot long oak trees for fire wood. Does it ever get easy???? When that wood is keeping this house warm this winter I will forget all the work.

Armand is doing good but is still not getting around as much as he should, needs to walk more.

Creeping Along

Was in bed most of the day, sooooooooo unlike me. Don't feel well enough to shower so did the hospital thing. Maybe tomorrow. I have a lot of stuff that needs to be done but will have to wait. I did eat some chicken soup last night and kept it down but not in.Sorry toooooo much information. Mike and Steve are going to fix the door I torn off the hinges when I passed out . That was the strangest feeling, here today gone the next.

I don't feel like doing anything, not even quilting, couldn't even drink coffee, must be the end of the world.

Armand continues to improve slowly and is not real nice at the moment, I think this is recovery behavior after major surgery. Will keep up with Tonia by phone wouldn't want to give her this stuff.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Thanking God for his Love

Yesterday started like any other foe Steve and I but quickly changed at 1pm.Tonia called to say that Armand has been admitted to the emergency room in Covington Louisiana, he had really bad reflux the night before and was feeling worse as the night and day continued. Well you gess it he had had areally bad heart attact at home and was unaware as to what it was. It was so extentive he had to have emergency open heart surgery as soon as his body hit the area. All had to be replaced open heart surgery for 5 hours he was on the table. He made it through and is in ICU, just coming around a little this morning> We got there at 2pm yesterday and finally drove his truck home and got home at 11pm. Her family started to arrive during the late evening as they live all over the place.

I spoke to her this morning and she saw him for a few minutes, he is just starting to wake up and is angry because he has never been in the hospital before and thinks he is just sick and is ready to go home. We are not telling him anything different. They were going to be traveling with us at Thanksgiving, good thing this didn't happen when he was driving his bus in Texas.

I am trying to destress, cut recipes and taped them in my notebook, sewed a little and will cook after I shower. Life is iffie at times so make each day and moment count with the ones you love and the ones you don't like so much because you never know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will try to be more upbeat tomorrow, just tooooooooooooo tried today and worried about my friend, he thinks carrot cake is a vegetable and pumpkin pie is a fruit.

Thanks goodness thats over with.I think the eggplant I ate for supper did a number on my digestive system.Enough of that!!!!!!

It is winter time in Louisiana, into the 30's tonight and in the 50's tomorrow and all weekend, yea sewing weather and feeling good weather.

We are still running the business Hank won't be home until Sat. I plan on sewing over the weekend so have blocks ready to put together. Need to make a stocking, and some other items for my exchange and 25 gift bags. Have plenty to do so here we go--------->

Lots to do today, mail Naomi's birthday package, exchange sizes on Christmas items, WW, work at Hanks, cut more parts for my block exchange, start secret santa package and work at Hanks.

Rain at Last

It has rained all night and will rain for 2 more days. We really needed it, way behind on moisture. The dog is under my table, she gets really scared when it rains or we have thunder. My mother was the same way, she didn't get under the table but would put a pillow over her head during a storm.
,
We will be running the shop this week for Biggems(Big Hank), I get to cook breakfast for little Hank this morning, yea love that boy.Spend the afternoon with him yesterday, when they are 17 years old every shared moment is wonderful because he will probably go to LSU next year. He is in SLU University 1/2 time while he finishes high school. When he grad. in May he will have 5 collage courses finished, all his maths and one English and a Biology. Smart Kid, we all were good students, Education and Work were our 2 goals in life.

I am working on my blocks at the shop, cutting small parts. Secret Santa is next.

Have a great day!

Today I will be working on my secret sisters swap and my exchange blocks for the Rally. Steve is going over to Armond's to put in a camera on his bus. I might go to a funeral for my cousin or not. I need to sort through some items that need to go to the cottage. So have a great day!

Another Day for Getting Ready

Today bright and early we will go about 15 miles north to Albany to my brothers house to cut his grass. He is not able so his BNL(Steve) will cut Steve's grass. Yes and he has a son Steve. Go figure, no my Dad's name was Henry. I have a new pain today in the small of my back, guess all that work yesterday, guess the broard is getting OLD! Took the old person cure 500mg "T", took 3. I guess with not being able to sleep on the left side because of the arm thing I am not moving much at night. I promise when we get back from the Rally I will follow up on the arm.

I have such nice sons, they see me or call or text everyday and when I tell you NO MAMA BOYS HERE, just big old teddy bears that love their Mama. They work with their Dad , Steve works for Big Hank and Mike does his metal work in Steve's big garage so they are what can say we all live on the same block and for the moment they are all HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big Boy has a really great girlfriend he is happy with and Mic will be starting Southeastern Un. in January to do another BA in Nursing. Mic is getting ready for a art show at the university , he will have several pieces featured, of course when I am gone. He is actually working on them this weekend.

We will pack some this afternoon and fuel up tomorrow, watch the game at noon on Sunday WHO DAT of course is playing the Buck's in Tampa. We were invited by RB to go next week as our gang from Texas is coming but we will be at the Rats. I think she and John are bringing 5 or 6 coaches in to park at the Saints Training Faciality and sit in the box. Sorry I will have to miss it.Her husbands Father died this week, we send our special prayers to them both.

The dog went back to bed after getting up at 6:30 to eat, nice pooch just can't sleep late.Guess we will keep her anyway.heheheeeeeeeeee

Have a nice Day my friend Nancy B. May it bring peace to you both. The VA is kick as*. My brother uses them and they have nice VA homes, Hospitals, Clinics, and my brother will use their cemetery when the time come. He served during the big "V" war.

Easy Day

Today is really one of those "What to Do Days". I started off with 2 loads of laundry, will vacumn next, then off to the spa for a day of beauty, "The Works" from head to foot overhaul. I will check on my brother as the day goes on. Steve went to the shooting range to keep his shooting up to grade. I think he will be at Hank's today doing a bedliner.

This afternoon I will be cleaning 6 sewing machines for sale in Georgia and packing 20 quilts for sale. Sort of a easy day would you agree? Oh just changed the king size bed, gathered all floor rugs on the way back from the bedroom. Please stop me somebody. heheheeeeeee

Actually the weather is perfect 46 degrees and sunny with the highs in the 70's great for Louisiana. It is still dry but may get rain next mid week. I made veggie soup yesterday enough to feel the entire area if you know what I mean and a wopping cornbread.I have cooked enough this week, DONE

I am working on 7 bindings and will take them with me. Sorry about missing the Queen Bees Meeting, I really love those girls.

Have a great weekend all you working folks and foe all you old guys just keep breathing>

Had oatmeal with fresh blueberries this morning and really enjoyed it with a lot of cups of coffee.

Tomorrow it is haircut, shampoo, manicule, pedicule and wax!!! Dog goes for a day of beauty also. Now I am thinking she would be fresher if she went on Monday. Will see.

Yoyoes are everywhere, am using some kool fabric, reds, greens stripes and crazy patterns. Found some antique red buttons in my button can to use, SWEET!!

Good luck brother with the doctors today, remember tell them what happened. Call me and let me know what they said.

Rain at Last

Can you believe it has'nt rain in a month, well we got a little last night. It is brown instead of green, strange. We have a new Hurricane named Paula this is number 16 and all have missed us with a lot of them heading north in the Atlantic Ocean, thank goodness. This one may skirt the florida keys.

I have lost my reading glasses in the house, Dixie didn't take them, I checked her crate. Thank goodness I have dollar store readers.I have turned the house over and inside out. Guess that is a sign of old age.

We have to pick up 3 trucks in Franklinton fot bedliners, and they have several bedliners already scheduled so Steve will be busy all day and then dinner with Tonia , Armond, Greg, Kathy, Steve and me.

I have made more bindings so they will be attached on our way to Georgia, still making yoyoes in Christmas fabric. Steve asked me last night "what are those for?" I said they keep me awake watching tv at night.Does everything have to have a purpose????

I got the quilts out for sale yesterday and 5 sewing machines to go with us to Georgia. Today I will be looking for the books that go with them.
I will also cut the Christmas fabric for the gifts for the rally in December.

I will clean the sewing machines tomorrow>

Steve B.(my brother) had a little issue sunday so I will be checking on him regularly. Good morning Brother I know you are reading this!!!

Saints didn"t Win

What an interesting game!!Would have been better if we would have won, but say la vive, can't always have everything. The arm is improving, it is the shoulder not the arm. I am just careful with how I use it nad maybe we can just get it 100 percent.

We cleaned the bus yesterday and reorganized the inside, the bottom is his to do when ever. We wiped everything down, wool-lited the carpets, scrubbed the tile floors and got rid of a lot of junk in the cabinets. Clothes are on the only thing left is the food for the rally and it is all done and frozen, of course the salads will be made fresh. heheheheeeeeeeee

Tonia is coming over today to work onb her squares for the christmas rally and i will be picking out quilts for the sale in Georgia, 7 sewing machines too.I will be sewing in the cottage as the machine is set in the table and that doesn't hurt my shoulder, the ones in the house sit on top of the table and that position hurts.

Ed and Caroline are pluged in with their 95 BMC Bluebird for a week in our yard on their way to The Rally in Rain, La. They stop by every year for a visit. They are one of our regulars.

John Benon's Dad died Sunday morning , may bge going to San Antonio for a over nighter and say with Tony and Joyce in San Markus, not sure.

Have a great week!!!!

Wonderful Weather

The weather is the best!!! Would love to live in a spot that is 40's at night and 70's during the day, 12 months a year. Oh and no Hurricanes! I have been hauling *** all day since 6am. first take Dixie for a bath, pick her up at noon, grocery shop the specials at 3 groceries (making groceries, thats New Orleans language) unloading and putting them away. Clean the 2 dog beds, wash covers and spray the pillow parts, do 2 loads of clothes, wash , dry, and fold.Did I mention vacumn the entire house, load dishwasher, unload and put away dishes and fix lunch and reload lunch stuff, pack recycling for Saturday and now I get to do my blog and it is 1 o'clock. I wonder why I am sooooooooo tried. Who Knew????

I need to wipe toilets with a brush, maybe !!

My neighbors behind us for the last 38 years are Wayne and Karen. Our sons went to school together all the way through collage. Her husband was a mentor to Michael as they were both artist, my in metals and him in neon. He passed away on Tuesday night from dementer complications. She had placed him in a nursing facility while we were out of town. He was only 62 years old and so talented. We will be attending his services on Saturday.

I am working at Hank's this afternoon answering the phone so off I go, maybe I can snooze between calls. I wonder why I am tried today, well my arm is still bothering me some and I am not sleeping well.

Great Morning

Good morning to all, Steve had a good day, stone passed, he is back to normal(a.s normal as he can be)heheheheheheee. I got a lot done yesterday, moved summer clothes , added winter things, sorted, gave away a lot, will sell some at the second hand shop, passed some on and actually deposited some in the "can".My friend will be selling my glove collection on ebay and some vintage handbags and a dress from the 1920's.

Am having the foot lanced at 11 o'clock today and then will clean the RV and shampoo the carpet. Steve and I will do this together. I am going through the cabinets and getting rid of stuff we don't use.

Cooked yesterday, took a 14 lb. turkey and shinned and removed the FAT, then cut it up, roasted the breast and wings and boiled the rest. The rest will be used for the gumbo I will make for the Rats Rally in 13 days in Georgia. I am making apple oatmeal muffins for Steve tonight.

Made yoyos last night watching TV. Will trim 2 quilts sometime today and will make 50 miles of binding. Will I have enough to do????

Home Again

Home is where the heart is and mine is in Ponchatoula. Steve had a kidney stone attack on the way home from Shreveport. WE had to stop for a while and then he drove on in. I medicated him when we got home and his pain eased somewhat. We unloaded the bus a little while ago just the food and dirty clothes. Tomorrow is another day, we need to strip the bead and clean the interior and go dump the tanks as we leave in 2 weeks for Georgia for the Bluebird Rally.

I quilted a lot last week and did some craft classes, I am not a real crafter but I try. I am making yoyos at present for a christmas tree. Now I need to do laundry yuk!!

My cousin Faye's husband died last week with cancer, he battled a long time, we also have a wedding next weekend. Busy week.

Arm is improving and foot needs to be drained. What-up as my DGS Hank says it is what it is.

Ready to Roll

We or should I say Steve is loading all the packed items in the bus so I can go over and put it all away. Takes a lot to move in for a week as I take everything pre cooked so I don't have to waste time cooking when I can relax. Mama taught me well!!!

All is well in the Gureasko-Boyle community at the moment. The Hoolahans are not so well. Bonnie's husband is taking cancer treatments and is having a very difficult time.Faye and Ronnie the same!My brother is sounding great these days and his son is chuging along. My grands are all doing well and the newest almost ,maybe member can't say more is wonderful.

My arm is still a issue as is my foot, meds are helping but are presenting other issues. What can I tell you "middle age" is not for sissies. The only great thing is I can still quilt ,walk and well never could chew gum.

I don't know how much internet I will have for the next week but will keep up if I can.

Trip will be delayed thanks to the airconditioner in the bedroom not working. Steve will probably not be able to get parts until Monday. We are packed and ready with everything on board.

I feel better this evening the meds are kicking my butt. The antibiotic is really making me sick but the foot needs it so have to take it.

Make pillowcases for the grands to take with me and cut fabric for the goofy little cicles (yoyoes) I am making for the Christmas Project I am working on.I have a hand quilting project to take and my featherweight will also go on the trip.

Had supper with Tonia and Armand just a little while ago, nice evening.

Good Morning Ladies

I think I am getting better. Sleep was available to me in 2 long stressess last night, finally. Lost the pain patch sometime last night, don't see it on the sheets. Maybe the arm ate it. I can move it better this morning, some pain still there but don't want to chop it off. Maybe we are getting better.

Foot is still inflamed and swollen, hopefully the meds will work so we can leave Sunday. Want to be there before the game starts. You know me and football, all the way SAINTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!WHODAT-WHODAT-TWODAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to sew but will hold off , may be straighten the sewing area this afternoon. We are having dinner with Tonia and Armand this evening and we voted yesterday, grocery shopped(all I did was walk he pushed and grabbed items) after his Dr. appointment. He still have some left over kidney stone pieces to pass.Poor guy hope this will be the last time.

The day for me will be drop sweet Dixie off for a shampoo, come home clean dog beds, get a shampoo and nail job from Mell for me, and read. Tomorrow will be recycling drop-off and pack. Precook what ever we will eat on Sunday, maybe chicken salad and beef lion. I forgot of course a nice cake for my sweetie.

I will try to hem my table cloth I pieced in Pomeroy and make some more yoyos.hahaha.In stead of putting up a Christmas tree I am going to make a fabric tree(quilt) about 5 feet tall for the wall and decorate with fancy yoyos. Sounds like a plan.

Thank God Its Over

Yesterday was a day from hell! Went with Steve to the hospital for a KB Exray, then to WW, then trucked over to the doctor's office and try to be seen. When I get there they tell me to chose a new doctor as mine has retired because of medical issues. I chose someone I don't know but can still see my nurse practiciner for the time being. She said she will work me in and does , arm may be fractured need exrays at 2pm, go home have lunch, go back for 2, can't tell need the expert to read them. Stop in at foot doctor, he can see me right away as my foot looks really bad. If it doesn't improve by monday have to open and drain. Put me on a very strong antibotic. Now I have pain pills, pain patches and antinflamitory and I am in BIG PAIN. Got home at 4:30 after picking up supper from my friends restaurant.

Didn't sleep much last night but plan on sitting on my butt today and snooze and read.

You guys know I don't complain usually so I have to be in a lot of pain and to boot we are going to leave on Sunday, MAYBE????? We can always leave midweek, depends, I can't load the bus feeling this badly.

Will keep you guys up to date.

Another Beautiful Day

What more do we need, sunshine, 90 degrees, dry, nothing to do!!!! I will probably start thinking about our trip to Shreveport on Sunday. Steve has to have an KB x-Ray today to see if all the stones have passed. It only takes a few minutes so off he goes to help Hank.

I need to have someone look at the pain in my arm, it still hurts a lot. I am careful with it but it is not much better. Can't let it interfere with sewing afterall.

I will probably make some bags today and hem my pieced tablecloth. Sounds like a plan!!!

Off to WW after the xray and then pay some bills then FREE AT LAST!!!!!

Tomorrow I will leave Spokane and leave my wonderful host Barbara and her family and fly accross the entire US and arrive home at 6 pm.to be with my wonderful family and will see my great hubbie Steve,we will ne home 6 days and then off to the FMCA Rally for RV's in Shreveport LOuisiana for a week, isn,t life grand!!!

We ate Salmon(Wild Pacific) many times thanks to Kathy bernand,s husband, not sure he knows we got it from his stash, but whose telling. We also ate Mo (Beef cow who went to the great reward) ,we had so much to chose from we could have stayed for 3 weeks.

Oh the weather, try 40-70's windy and rainy, just perfect for quilting with the quilt shop on the top floor of the retreat, with indoor stairs. Can you "did it?".

We mailed 16 pillow cases to the Queen Bees for the VA home on FRiday and I taught 2 classes while I was at retreat.

Thats all for now have to get to the airport early in the morning so long for now will chat again on Tuesday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATTICAKE

I love birthdays, I am 68 years young today, WHOOHOO.My DH gave me a beautiful pair of trigold half dollar size hoop earrings, very nice , he earned points today.

Took Dixie for a bath this morning and came home and vacumned the house and put some fall decorations up in side , will wait till monday afternoon to the do the outside of the house. I am tried of summer!!! I am wishing for an early fall.

The family will celebrate tomorrow with cake , ice cream, hot dogs and chips etc. They will be coming in 2 shifts.(noon and supper time)Sunday I am cutting pillow cases to mail to Pomeroy for construction. Tuesday I will mail the boxes.

Sounds like a plan!!!!!

Had an wonderful day with Bonnie and Donald yesterday. On the way home doing 70 miles an hour I had a blow out in the right rear. Hit some metal rods when a towing house trailer hit it next to me and had a 18 wheeler in the left lane. The trailer didn't clear the road completely, I headed as close to the big truck as I could and took a 45 degree shot toward the shoulder just missing the house trailer as I shot past on 3 tires.
As my Daddy said to my mother when she lost control pulling a popup trailer, "ride it down Laura, ride it down". My cousin said yesterday, looking at me is like looking at my mother. AMAZING, we are what we are!

Rainy Sunday and Katerina Remembered

Woke up to a lot of rain today and rain all day and tomorrow and so-on.This will be a good day to cook, sew and read. I am going to make some giftees to take to Pomeroy and cut some quilt, haven't deceided which one but will probably be a Halloween tabletopper or harvest tabletopper or both.

Cooking will be grilling under the patio cover, bake a cake, make cookies and make a pasta salad. Steve needs to eat. I had the best 0 point dessert last night, 1 cup pumpkin(can) pumpkin pie spices and splenda, put in microwave for 2 minutes, very tastie.

Yesterday was a looooooooooong day, didn't sew, ate left overs, watched football, Houston kicked the Cowgirls butts! and read a new book. Went to bed at 9:30. Problem is we have been home since April and I am ready to roll in the big bus. Had enough being home, Time to go .

Enough yayaya

Katrina revisited, 5 years ago we were boarded up in our home waiting for the storm to hit. It did, I started hearing trees coming down, praying they wouldn"t take our lives and home. They fell in my neighbors yard and took out his Studio, fence etc. I could hear terrible noices but had all the windows covered with 3/4 inch plywood. Trees limbs and debre was hitting my flat roof. No electricity, no air, hot and scared.
It lasted about 12 hours.Lines down and poles just missing, a real war zone, but no flooding in my area. We had to get the chain saws out to clear paths in case of emergency. My son Hank couldn't get out of his area, 40 gaint pine trees were blocking the roads, he had a gaint oak in his big house but had a gas generator for electricity. My younger son had a backhoe and a saw so he was out trying to clear our roard way.I had a battery fan that I wasn't sharing and was checking on neighbors as best as I could get around. Then weeks of heat, mosquito, trying to find food, we hooked a hose to our neighbors and ran their water backwards through our system, Tolets then worked. We cooked for the linemen who ncame from all over the US to help. We cooked the foods from the freezers as they defrosted and feed them in the front yard at night, also took their dirty clothes to Beth's mothers in Baton Rouge and would wash for 243 hours stright taking turns sleeping a few hours. This went on for weeks. Enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I won't ever be here in Louisiana when a storm comes in the Gulf. We keep the bus fueled and packed and will roll. I have 45 gaint pine and oak trees that can fall and don"t have 45,000 dollars to take them out so I will not be here.

Hope I gave you a picture of what it was like. We are tuff, I have lived through Betsey in 65, Camille, Katrina, Rita,....NO MORE TO OLD and SMARTER

I use all techniques some quilts will have several. My primary(Neutrals) colors are lime green, aqua, purple, rose, orange , red with some glitter and, blacks. I make all size quilts from table tops 38x38 to may favorite 120x120. I also like large florials.
