Secrets from Louisiana

So glad you have stopped by for a visit. We have many secrets here in Louisiana. We are a quilters haven because of all the interesting things we have in our environment to see, smell, taste and feel. Our flowers are like perfume in the evening and the colors explode in your eyes. Our seafood is the best in the world and is bountiful from the Gulf.

The palette is non stopping.

Pocket Rocket

One of those days , hit the floor running @ 5am, what a way to enter the world. Had my gallon of coffee and oatmeal, stired the woodstove, got dressed and spent the next 15 minutes tring to fine my wedding ring that fell on the floor, the carpet swalloed it up. Found it and realized the carpet smelsl like Dixie, will have to clean it after Christmas.
Getting ready to leave for Texas on the 10th returning on the 19th, San Antiono here we come. It is beautiful in Texas at Christmas time, they really put out the lights. My house is done since last Friday and the gifts are ready to wrap. All will be done before I leave for when we caome back we will have the little ones for a week, I love when they come we stay really busy doing fun stuff! I tell them I am the fun grandma. Little Hank will be home for a month from LSU so will do some big boy stuff with him.
Did well with WW during the holiday and my piece of pecan pie didn't even taste good, 11 points of waste. I loved having family over, that was the best.

All Done

Sorry I have been gone soooooooooo long! Christmas shopping all done! Thanksgiving completed 15 at the table, went really smooth, cut the menu down to basic foods. Big Hank brought the fried turkey(did you think in Louisiana we bake the bird?) and dressing.  My niece and her husband came for the first time with their new baby and their toddler, very nice. My Nicolas and Naomi were missing but came the next day, had a GREAT visit.

I recycled  the food this morning, a pie with dressing on the bottom, turkey and gravy, then cranberry sauce, then a pie shell, bake @ 350 for 45 minutes. Mashed the sweet potatoes, and made a soup with turkey broth, broc., turkey and some carrots. Baked chicken breasts and baked the "old" apples. Done for the week! Thats how I like to cook. I will pass the pecan pie to Mike and Steve will get the apple pie. DONE!!!!!

Now to get to the quilts that need to be quilted. I will be using the Elna 7300 with the built in walking foot. I will also be using the computer for deals and steals today. Thats my plan and I am sticking to it.
Will be in touch!

New Day

The mattress came today and the new sewing machine came Saturday, whoohoo. I sooooooo needed that new mattress and I sooooooooo wanted that Elna 7300 Pro Quilting Queen, now I have to learn how to use all the special features. My friend Jayne has one and has said she will help me , I have to see things happen not read /or have someone tell me. Does that make sense? Feel free th join in.

I am putting rows together on my purple flannel quilt, a fun one, take pieces out of a bag and sew them together, what liberating feeling this is, no more has to be just so and following a pattern, just quilting for fun.  am loving it.

Have a great day and hugs!

I will be looking at mattresses tomorrow, need a new one and Sears has 18 months no interest, my kind of sale. Yesterday I had $45 of free money from Penneys so I got 6 new T-shirts for see for $4.10($44), 2 sets of King Sheets for $70.21($220) This included sale reductions, not bad for the coupon Queen!

Next we need 4 new tires for the bus, we had a blow out on the way home so will be looking for a wholesaler some where Wish me luck!

I bought some Titanium needles in Houston will let you know how long they last.

Have a wonderful day and GO SAINTS AND GO NEW ENGLAND (Barbara)

Home Again for One Day

What a life, God has been good to me and mine! WE travel, have a warm place to sleep , healthy food  to eat , money to pay bills and FUEL money for the bus. Did I mention electricity to run my sewing machine so I can use up my fabric before I am 100 yrs old.

This morning was a rocket in the pocket morning, got up at 5:45, put on the coffee and put out Dixie. Took a bath, got dressed, put on my face, and cooked breakfast, ate and put on the laundry(7:15am)and dropped Dixie off for a bath. Returned and dusted and vacumned the entire house. Put  a roast in crockpot and chicken breast in the oven to bake. (9:10am) The only things I have left to do are blow the porch and dog yard and pack for Houston. The rest of the day is MINE, all MIne think I will tie a quilt. I love days like this with the pocket rocket but the problem is most of my days are rocket days. The only draw back is I am in bed by 9:00pm and I miss the good shows on TV.

hugs to you all and borrow my rocket if you need to

I'm Back

Well hello, I'm back, we had a great quilt show sat. too bad I spent 3 hours of it in the ER. I fell carring a big quilt and really damaged my knee. Nothing broken but a hemi came up the size of a grapefruit within one minutes, scared the hell out of me for sure. I am on house arrest this week so I have to cope with this as we are leaving on Sunday for several weeks. I have a lot to do. I will be making lists and packing stuff for Steve to take to the RV.

I have 13 Christmas quilts pinned/sandwished so will be tying, quilting and making more bindings. I will keep busy.

Have a great week!

WHODAT GO BOYS

Go home WV , the Saints Came Marching In, Oh When The Saints Come Marching In, I am In That Number!!!! What a game , a real nail biter for sure. I was sewing the binding on Hank's quilt (LSU) and had to stop so I wouldn't miss anything. Go Saints! ON Football days we arrange everything around the game,Do you think we love our boys???

Next 3 games are on the road so part of New Orleans will be traveling.

I have a lot to do today and have started early, did 4 loads of laundry and will be vacuuming and steaming the floors. I have a zillion things on my day planner for the week. Thank goodness all the left over garage sale stuff went to St Andrews Sat afternoon. Made $300 FOR JUNK not bad and emptied 60% of the end room. When I move sewing machines out lots of space will be emptied. Steve's 6 feet is really junked up , but will assist him in going through his treasures.

I have several small Christmas Quilts to sandwich and tie before we leave for our Autumn Trip to Georgia and Tenn.

Have a great day!

Off and Running

What a way to start your day, no coffee! I hadmy 6 month bloodwork done this morni ng at 7:45 and had a flu shot at 8:00am, took the dog for a bath and picked up Hank's quilt at 9:00am. Came home and went to the store house and sorted stuff foe the garage sale tomorrow morning. It was hot and Steve and I were pooped by lunch. WE had to dump the big fish container and scrub it, I decorated the front of the house for fall and then did the inside the same, fall quilts, fancy decorated fruits and veggies, fall sprays etc, got the picture?? I want to put summer away NOW.

I went to Mell at 2:45 for a shampoo and nails. What a treat, can home and am now done for the day, as we will have pancakes and baked apples for supper.(Fall Supper) It is thundering and raining at the moment so Dixie  is under the table at my feet. It is funny when a big truck goes buy and makes a big noise she gets under the table on a sun shining day.

Looking forward to the Saints game on Sunday, WHODAT GO SAINTS!

We sold the Magnum Dodge yesterday sorry to see it go, it was to low for me to drive and tooooooo fancy, I want a plain one !

Didn't sew today, but will on Sunday, binding is made and ready.

Hugs to you all,

Busy Day

Good afternoon, went to Target and shopped at 7:30am for FF Cottage cheese and Organic Milk. Walked for 25 minutes in the store then checked out. Got to WW just at nine am and checked in and how wonderful showed a small weight lost after being with the SewN Sew Sisters for 7 days, how sweet is that. Listened to the program for an hour then off to grocery shopping race. Covered Walmart for a few items on sale, then to Winn Dixie for bagged salad(Buy one get one free) and some bagged veggies. Next was the farmers market for really nice fruit and veggies for 2 weeks. Next stop is Albertsons for gala apples, along the way trying for find reasonable eggs on sale. Last stop was Piggly Wiggly for canned peas, corn and string beans (bought 6 cases@.50 a can) and found eggs 5 dozen for $7.00. Got home to unload and her comes sweet Steve down the driveway for lunch(working at Hanks today) . He unloaded while I fixed lunch and then it was getting the groceries put away. All done and I am pooped so I am going to get on the sofa with a book and hope I only last awake 5 minutes.

Had supper with Tayna, Armond, Greg and Cat last night, had a nice visit, Armond has been approved for a heart and kidney transplant, he is on the list. So keep praying.

Grands are coming this weekend and I am having a garage sale. Sounds like a plan.

10 days GONE

Sorry about no communication foe 10 days I have been away in the great North West!!!!!!!! What a trip I had, Barbara hosted me from the airport to Ritzville where Sweet Marge picked me up and hosted me for several days in Star Buck Washington! WE went to a luncheon, picked fresh veggies and cut cat tails on the side of a mountain road in 108 degrees. The weather changed about Wednesday and it was devine temps.

We left for the retreat center in Pomeroy Wash. on Thursday morning singing all the way. The SewNSew Sisiters began arriving that afternoon, the funniest story was Marlyn who got lost and drove up a dirt road in the dark where they are building those gaint windmills. She had us in stitches. What a bunch. Steph and Kathy shopped at estate sales and garage sales, got some awsum bargains. I was limited by baggage size.I know poor patticake. Robbie cooked baked oatmeal and make some supper different salads. I made WW chili and Val brough some killer cornbread for it. Kathy made some spag with shrimp. cream, cheese etc, killer!!! We had breads, cakes, apple turnovers...... too many to mention.

Did I mention we also sewed, made purses from ties, potatoe bags for the microwave, 3 dementional bowtie blocks, glueing quilts together, spray starch points and worked on some fab quilts.

It was nice to go and nice to get home, Steve did a great job with the house and with Dixie. The longer you are married when you have a great marriage the harder is is to leave, the nicer it is to come home.

Thank you Barbara for all the special things you do for me, I love you like a sister.

Last Eye Surgery

This morning we left at 5am to get to Baton Rouge Louisiana for Steve's right eye cataract surgery, left eye was done 2 weeks ago. WE had to schedule close as I am leaving Sept. 12th for Pomeroy WA. We have to hope we have no hurricanes coming in in the next 2 weeks until he can drive, we have a back up plan if one comes in ride it out in the bus in the garage. We have 40 gaint pine trees around the house, by bigI mean over 50 inches plus around and some are in poor health because of our dry weather. His left eye is almost completely healed so we are doing drops for another  4 weeks in the new eye and 2 more weeks in the old eye. He will not need glasses for most things. His eyes are the opposite of mine, glasses for reading  and great distance, his read without and maybe glasses for distances. WE will see.

We got home for 8:30am and went to sleep till noon, old folks need rest.heheeee, he is still sort of in lalaland form the drugs. We will take it easy the rest of the day. I am going to work on Hank's LSU Quilt.I cooked for the week yesterday so no cooking for me just chose and heat. We have doctors appointments tomorrow and Thursday I am going to skip quilt meeting and paint instead. I am one week behind schedule. You know me and schedules, gotta stick to it. I really want to get finished.

I have a lot of quilts to finish for the Rats Rally in Georgia, thats where I sell well.

Two weeks till Tony and Joyce come to visit for my Birthday.......September 3rd 1942 (69 years young)

What a Wonderful Life

Got back in the groove, painted bedroom on Monday, shopped for quilt show prizes on Tuesday, tomorrow WW and work on the LSU Quilt. Thursday quilt class at Bright Hopes and Friday Dixie and I go for some beauty work! Saturday is recycling and Sunday we just lay around. Monday I will paint another bedroom. I have 2 bedrooms and a bathroom to go. Then we have to finish the end room in September.

We will be picking up firewood to split along the way. It is toooooooooooo hot to work outside at this  stage of life, thats my story and I am sticking with it.So indoor projects are best, This evening I am going through my shoes and boxing up the ones that I don't need.

Armond is back in the hospital seems like 10 days is his limit to stay home before the fluid returns. Talked to Tayna at a restaurant today and she is really worn out, but she is like the bunny, just keeps on going and going, going.....

Steve is recovering nicely from his eye procedure, thank goodness, he needs these eyes to drive the bus. His next eye isn't scheduled yet, wants to do it before I leave on September 12th.

Little Hank is all  moved in at LSU, nice condo, we pulled the trailer of furniture up yesterday. I feel better having seen the gated complex he will be living in. Going to REALLY MISS THAT SWEET 6 FOOT BABY! Can you tell how close I am to him........

Checked in with my brother he is doing okay.

Yesterday I took them to get the famous "Louisiana Powdered Sugar" Breakfast treat. We drove around in heavy downpour RAIN. Had a great time with cousin Bonnie, we are like carbon copies of each other. Looking forward to the next visit next month. Steve cut Steve's grass this week and noticed that he has a low tire, Boyle please air it up, spend the 50 cents. We may not be available if you have a problem and the heat is not something you want to sit in or walk in. Spend the 50 cents please. Thanks from your big sister.

Less than 2 months till Pomeroy sweet Sistras, can't wait, plan on another 10 pounds down!!!! I am feeling really great still a chunky girl just 5 feet tall. Did I add and almost 69 years old, WOW looking froward to 70  and soooooooooooooo on. My new glasses did the trick, Doctor was correct old eyes and a lot of close work, tooooooooooooo bad.

Well it is mid-morning and I have cleaned and steamed the floors, dusted, and cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms. I also was the spotter in the bus as Steve put more air-conditioner fluids in the bus air we use when we are rolling and rolling we will be in a few days. I am now doing all laundry that needs to be done and am washing the dog beds. I grocery shopped yesterday evening and will load the cold food tonight. YES I have rockets in my pockets today! I hope I never wear down, hope my batteries stay charged till I am 100 plus. What a though, 3 feet tall, gray/white nappie hair and a mouth that doesn't stop, got the picture, not pretty.

Hay Bro that was sweet of you  and Stevie calling your brother n law and wishing him a happy fathers day. Very nice in deed. We stayed home yesterday and enjoyed the day by ourselves. Mike ate with Steve on Friday and Hank ate with Steve on Sat. Little Hank took big Hank out to eat yesterday by themselves, very nice in deed!!!!

Happy Fathers Day

We just fueled the bus with 80 gallons, that is all it needed to fill to 300 gallons, hallaloulla for that. I wiped the inside down and cleaned the bathroom, will vacumn when we are finished loading it. Toooooooooo hot outside at the moment so later today will be just fine. I will bag up the dry goods and pack frig tomorrow between cleaning house, can't go on a trip with a  not pristine house to come home to, afterall Betty Clever might visit.
I am going to pick out some more fabric for a Christmas rug and a Halloween rug, these are fun to make and they use up all of your old bobbins. I am all about using up what you have.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE DADS OUT THERE!!!!!!!! Now let me tell you some of my favorite Daddyisms from my wonderful Dad. If you never met Henry Thomas Boyle, you missed an opportunity of a life time! He was a small man in statue about 5foot 6 inches and about 145 lbs. an iron worker from a very large poor family of 19. He only went to the 3rd grade but worked his way up to a well paying position with Boh Brothers Construction Co. He was a rounder in his early days but a great family man in his married period. He lived to 81 years. He use to wishper things in my ears and sang to me every night when I was little. I grew up thinking I was the most beautiful girl in the world and that I could  accomplish any thing in the world. And I did!.Some of the things he would tell me were that education was the key to life being great, with an education I would not have to depend on a man to take care of me, being educated I didn't have to take crap from anybody, an education would make me strong so as far as the education he paid right through graduate school. He said take your time decieding what you want out of life and do it right the first time..........I miss him and I miss dancing with him, he was the BEST!!!!!!The best song was "Beautiful Brown Eyes", when I want to feel him close I sing it to myself.

Have a wonderful life and if your parents are alive, enjoy every second.

Hello

Sorry I have been gone soooooooooooo long, busy week! Getting ready to leave and had a lot to do and still have a lot to do. Steve wanted to leave early so he wouldn't have to drive 12 hours in one day, getting old!!! Me to don't like to ride that long either 6 is good for me also. Can't believe we are leaving a dry 100 degree plus area to go to another even hotter place, well what can I say, Casino pulling us there.

I made a rug yesterday and it is wonderful, will probably make several more, probably a Halloween one and a Christmas one. The one I just completed is sunflowers. Took me 5 hours and my shoulders are sore today, a lot of stitchen. It is the koolest project, after you finish you wash it and dry it and it comes out fluffie as can be like the old bedspreads. Way tooooooooo kool!

Today we are going to a political rally because ther is free food. It is a friend of ours and Steve is big into free political food. I on the other hand could care less. We will be taking some great food with us to Oklahoma, as I am sure their tomatoes don't taste anything like ours. hahaaaaaaaaa

Just talked to my favorite cousin Bonnie, her husband Donald is going for more tests this week, they have had their hands full>We are are praying for them

Armond has another blockage in one of his new stints, will have that taken care of next week, he is under the weather today.

Happy   Fathers Day Bro hope you got your card .

Retreat is filling up as we speak. reservations will start on July 1 2011 so don't be left out. Just heard from 2 more yesterday. WOW we are rocking.

Hello all, another hot day in Louisiana, and what do we do on hot days, nothing but sew. We will have sandwishes for lunch and crab cakes for supper, ok have that out of the way and tonight I will bake cookies for my sweet computer repair guy Hal. Steve will putter around in the garage until he is ready to pass out and then retreat in side. I will organize my weeks activities and get ready and on schedule, remember how organized I am.

I should have my circles attached to the black base today and cut the boarder for sewing, I love their shapes. I will pay bills at the shop tomorrow and do Mike's banking for him and for me to get ready to leave. Hallaloulla for that can I get a A-MEN on that. I am not one to get cabin fever but I got it now, I think Armonds condition for the last 7 months have really affected all of us in different ways.

Armond is up and dressed and puttering about , that is a great sign.

Have a wonderful day speek kindly to each other.

PROGRESS

I got my side of the closet in the famous end room emptied out in the mess in the big room, found Steve's model collection now have to find a place to store it.haha you didn't think for one minute he would get rid of it. Found the hot wheel collection, that goes to Nicolas and all the big Tonka Toys to the little boy next door. The train sets and extra cars go to the the train guy in town and the windows, screens and folding doors go to Habitat for resale.

A good morning work, and it was HOT in that closet ,it 24 feet long and 4 feet wide. We will insulate it and roof below the air space when I get to Steve's end of the closet, can't even open his door, will have to go throw my door. He has a ton of crap blocking the door. He tried ti leave when I started but I made him help for 30 minutes. Now it is to hot so on with a within the air conditioned house for more work.

I will work in the closet in the computer room this morning and then on to quilting and such. Dixie went for a bath this morning, she really, really needed one, what a hound dog smell.Love her anyway.

Have a great weekend, Armond is home and we will visit him this evening. His numbers improved so maybe no transplant, we will keep praying.

HUgs , be nice to someone today!

RAIN-RAIN and Storms

The weather radio went off about 15 times yesterday evening, big bad lightning and thumder and rain. We are green again. Just stepped away to trim my parsley plant that had tried to go to seed because of the heat and dryness , now it can give me more leaves. We may have more storms today so will be watching and listening for the alerts. We even had hail not a good sign.

We have Wayne for the day as Hank is is tinting his motorhome today.  Moe is also here, he is a trip. I will be sewing and scrapbooking  some today and just wasting time. heheeeeeeeeee

I will be checking on Armond today so will be giving you an update tomorrow.

A Busy Monday Morning

I am all about saving money when I shop!(Not on Fabric) Albertson's grocery had 2ggs 88Cents a dozen, buns 39 cents and Bounty towels 5.99 for 8 big rolls, well I was all over these. Next stop Target, bagged salads by one 2.99 get one free, steamable veggies in the bag 1.49 a bag, well I was all over these. Next stop Everthings a Buck, bread day, 8 loaves for us and my brother, he was just putting them out, happy dance. These included rye, sourdough, whole wheat, 40 calorie wheat and extra fiber wheat, what a selection. Next stop Vets Office, Heartguard buy 12 get 2 free and flee stuff but 12 get 4 free, large 17 lb CD dog food 1/2 price and 24 cans CD regular price. Dixie has bladder and kidney issues so she is on a specila diet. I am good for the month except for milk and fresh tomatoes and letteuc stuf.f .Pantry is full and freezer is adquate.

WE have fuel in the bus, big blue and the caddy, the s ten needs fuel, but we have it tucked away in the big building for now so if a storm comes we are rolling, rolling, and rolling. We can drag it behind the bus till we get to a stopping location. We have plotted our routes in several direction on back roads so we don't get stuck in traffic. We have different deductables when it comes to named storms so that has been considered and taken care of. Steve is going to have a fit but I will be packing a zillion quilts in the s-ten and about 5 good machines plus other quilting stuff. What would I do with my time if everything blows away????????
Gotta be prepared.

Paper work is all filed  and ready to put on board, taking records for 2011 with me.I have a feeling it is going to be an active season so get ready.

Armond has made some small improvements, will only have to have dyalasis 2 times a week instead of 3. I am still very concerned . He has gotten everything in order for Tanya including his funeral arrangements. She has power of Attorney now. He is trying to take care of everything from his hospital bed.

Our friend Brenda has been battling cancer for 20 years and they have given her 90 days to live, there is nothing more they can do in Texas. She and her husband Billy have been in the car clubs with us forever. She is younger than I am. What a fighter, hopes she find peace finally.

Steve and I are entertaining our friend Wayne and his dog Moe this week, he took us to supper last night, I had a plain baked potatoe and a bowl of turnip greens at cracker barrel. It is nice to have him plugged into our camping spot for a visit. Two old men , 2 dogs and me! What a week to look forward to.

I just peeled some big boiled shrimp, don't get excited it is about a dozen for putting in a salad.

Have a great week and Bro see you wed for grass cutting give  your brothernlaw some water while he cuts.
Pay him for your bread $4.

Love and hugs

Up Early

Good Sunday morning, hope you rested well. I am sleeping like a rock these days. Steve and I visited Armond and Tanya in the hospital yesterday and came home and are soooooo concerned about his condition. His heart is not in very good condition, they have taken steps to prepare for not getting better and she will be in a position to handle what ever comes along. It is the correct thing to do but is scarey for such a young couple.

Steve and I went to the quilt shop and I signed up for a class coupon $60 for unlimited classes till December. I never take classes as usually they are tooooo expensive, but this way I have fabric so I just need the pattern, signed up for 3 so already I am 30 dollars ahead. WhooHoo. First class is a rug class, applique, art quilt made with fabric and paper.

It has been over 100 everyday  so in the house another day, you can't breath in this heat and it is only june it should be about 88 degrees. I am sure I can find things to do. Made Steve a great smelling bread pudding last night, the hold house smells like it. It is 165 calories as compared to some that are 560 calories. Gotta watch that intake.

Think I will make another circle thing (block) , in aqua this time. Wish I knew what I was going to do with them, gotta just keep making them. just fun!

98 days till I fly out west for retreat WHOOHOO

Have a great day and do something nice for someone even if you don't want to!

A Entire Week

Well, I have a lot to report. My computer was hacked by someone in Germany and they unhooked a lot of things, my trustie Hal down at the computer shop fixed it right up so now I will be baking him some cinn. sugar cookies this coming week.

Next  I had the kids for a, week(Don't know why it is writing like this) had a great time planned activities every day, they slept great every night. We did a water pad, swimming pool at Mel's,Children's museum called Discoveries(Best 18 dollars I have ever spent) played games, baked cookies, watched movies, ate popcorn(a lot of it) and learned several life lessons.I didn't vacumn once can you believe it??????? Dixie loved playing with them and they spoiled her rotten. She has been looking for them all day.

I asked sweet Steve if I should clean house today and he said we will do it tomorrow, take the day off so I went to Mell and had my nails done and my hair.whoohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Armond has been moved to a rehab hospital and is receiving Dyaslis(Spelling?) 3 times a week, we visited with him last night and he thinks his days are limited. Had a long heart to heart with him last night, I am great for cheerleading, hope it sticks, would hate to lose a brother. I tried to explain that a lot of folks have conjective heart failure and live carefully and for a long time.He probably will not work again and will be disabled but that is okay,I told him it is like getting a retirement check with health benefit. LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE, I will be fighting for my last breath when the time comes. I told him if I had the choice between cancer of heart problem, his condition can be medically managed, cancer is a bitch. Thank God we are not addressing that issue.

The weather, june is not suppose to be 100 degrees plus and that is what we have had for a week and no real rain for 48 days. WHATS UPP with THAT???

How am I GREAT! Enjoying ewvery minute of my life every day.

I DID IT!!!!!!!

I went to WW and stepped on the scale and another 2 lbs., I made my goal and got all emotional. WOW that took a lot of control not to just scream and hop around. All it takes is journaling and know what your body needs for health. I am so lucky I figured it out. Next goal is in place, a piece at a time afterall I didn't go to bed skinney and wake up fat, took time to build the work of art. The WW guys all stood up for me and cheered, what a feeling to have a team working with you.

I will probably sew today and do somemore cleaning getting ready for Naomi and Nicolas's visit. Can't wait to see them...miss them a lot.

I have finished my Hurricane kit with the exception of buying tarps and storing them in case they are needed, I have packed all important papers in my Man Over Board Backpack, jewerley on board, money, all med records, all I will need are my best quilts. We will clear the yards as best as can be before we leave. I really feel it will be a tough year of storms, the temps in the Pacific are really cool and that means warmer in the Atlantic and the Gulf. We have 3 locations to run to all in Texas with hookups and pads for us to park and wait the storms out and the bus is fueled up and packed just have to empty the freezer and frig in the house into the bus. When you have weather as many storms as I have you learn and Katrina taught us well.

If the house goes we can full time in the bus. It is just a structure. Am I getting old are what????

Can You Believe It????

She is back- A beautiful day, warm and sunny and as dry as ****. No grass cutting here just brown with a little green. All that flooding and no rain in about 45 days, this is Louisiana whats upp with that?? Okay off the weather. Family is doing fine, everybody is working and getting a pay check except for Steve and I, hahaaaaaaaa. He tries to fine me a job but I am not going to do it. My job is family, house and quilting.

Speaking of quilting, my curves quilt is really moving along, I made plastic shapes for each part and then, hold your breath and don't pass out, I use a ballpoint pen and trace the shapes on the fabric, and then I free hand the rotary cutter to cut them out. Sooooooooooo easy, try it if you haven't, makes fast work of your shapes. The long part is pinning the curves. Sewing is easy.I will post some blocks when they are together. Of course mine will not look like the original pattern....OF COURSE NOT!!!!!

I hope to move the scales again this week, 5.2 last week, am I getting gready???You betta I am. I am really ready to be thinner so here we go!!!Faster than ever. I feel really great, don't hate me for being so UP all the time.

Good morning BRO, talk to you sometime today, probably about 3 o'clock.

Another Beautiful Day

Good morning all, hope you feel as good as do! I know should be a law against it! I have positive blood flowing in my veins. Wish I could pass it along to the entire world. I have started a new project , this quilt is called Radiant Suns, all curves, of course I am chamging the colors, could you have guessed? Purples, lime greens, oranges and turquois, some florials, batiks, prints and dots. You can see examples of this quilt on the internet, it is by Cara Gulati. In her directios she states, the blocks will be off some just find the smallest and size to it, then eat some candy and tell your friends it is artice. I like her already.

Today will be easy, nothing planned but next week will be different. I will be getting ready for the grands for a week long visit. I have planned the activities and have planned the menu, so now just wait. haha I will have this coming week to get it already, craft day, library day, swimming day, movie day, cartoon and popcorn day hanging out in front of the72 inch(Thats a rainy day)and a baking cookies and muffin day.No sewing that week or me. Am really looking forward to there visit, they haven't been down in 5 weeks.

It is hard to buy for a kid who has everything. We made him that way but  he is  so sweet for a 17 years old, never went through the rebellious stay.

Steve is feeing better thank goodness, he is not dizzy anymore. Back to to his old self.

Good morning BRo!

Talked to Bonnie yesterday, Donald's cancer is still there and seems to have spread to some new locations, more testing and more experimental drugs. His attitude is upbeat and wonderful. I am going to have to go in more often and visit.Pray for Donald Hollahan.

Up and Rocking

A Big Good Morning, slept well even after coffee in the afternoon amazing! Made jello already, packed my breakfast, made my plans and will be leaving for WW in about 30 minutes. I was home all day till 3:30 with Steve he wasn't feeling well, dizzy all day such a terrible feeling. He is back to normal this morning so I will be on the road till lunch time. Have some printing to do, shopping for Hank's Grad gift, getting batteries for 3 watches and a wind knob for another. Dropping off the rest of my clothes at the Goodwill will take care of everything I am not going to be needing.

There are some 21 seeping areas on the river  but they are not worried as these always seem to leak a little. We are high and dry so don't worry about us, it is the areas and rivers near the Mississippi. Our big lake is now fresh water not brackish, oysters beds will all die, another hit for Louisiana. They have just set up free counciling for folks who are having depression because waiting for the flood wateres and those who have flooded. Amen for them 5 years ago relived. I worry about the seniors who soffered during Katrina and now will be doing it again. Pray for them, their lives should be peaceful not stressful plus.

I went to the wake last night for my friends son, how sad, saw many of my friends from the 70's and 80's sad home coming. Glad I went.

Hello Bro told your brotherinlaw you have gas for the mower and he said "GOOD JOB BRO" He will put you on the schedule, what ever that means heheheeeeeeeeeee Thanks for calling I had you on the list just didn't get to you early ,taking care of Steve, you would have though he was dying. Men????? Gotta love them!

Have a great day do something nice for someone you don't even know. There is an eldery black man who walks 2 blocks every morning and every evening to eat at Mc Donalds, he walks on the road, the other morning the car in front of me stopped next to him and handed him some paper money, the man tried to tell him he wasn't in need but the driver insisted he take it, he took it. As I got to the red light, the old man handed the money to a man who looked down on his luck on the corner. That is what I am talking about passing it on and taking care of your brothers and sister. The man who finally recieved the money white.

Touch a heart today.

Graduation Day

Today Little 6foot Hank graduates from high school, he is number 16 out of 300, he has a 3.97 average for his 4 years in high school and a 4.0 from k-8th grade, what a wonderful young man. Am I a excited Grandmother or what? He has gotten enough awards and grants money for his 4 years at LSU. He received the tops award which is enough money to pay tuition, books etc.Way to go my sweet gs.

I am on the other hand am just a quilting gm and only learn new ways to do stuff. We have settled into the home life without traveling, would rather be on the road, to much to do at home.hahaaaa Steve is doing some side jobs on vechicals and has been reading novels like a mad man. I introduced him to crime /mystery books.

We are making progress on the end room, took a trunk full of clothes to Goodwill today. We will move the sewing machines to the cottage this week since the weather is sooooooooooo cool, 45 tomorrow morning.

Another Beautiful Day

The weather is beautiful, started in the 50's and will top out about 70, is this Louisiana in May??? I will take it no qusetions asked. Let me get you up to speed on the flooding, yes we are in a scarey period, if the leves hold we are good if they fail anyplace there will be more iles of flooded land and houses. I am dry and should be okay, I am about 50 miles from the River as the crow flies. Now we may get some back water in low areas from the back wash into the rivers that are getting dumped into, but not to worry I have a handicapped latter to the roof hahahaaaaaaaaaaa.

Now the basins will be flooded and the folks that live there knew they were in a flood plane when they built their homes there and they can not get floos insurance. It is a Louisiana thing, live , fish, boat, swim and enjoy your waterways. Most have packed up their entire home appliances included and have gone to family in a safe place, This is not the folks of Katrina, these are south Louisiana hardy folks that make their living on and in and around the water. Are you getting the picture.

We have a governor, our sweet Bobby, who has everything in place for the event. No waiting for him proactive, asked for a diaster decree 2 weeks ago, National guardis here, Red cross has 40 shelters open and maned, parishes who are not directly envolved have sent machines, equipment and manpower in the affected regions, jailed fmedical staffs are in placeolks are filling sand bags, food banks are stocking up and medical staffs are in place and ready.

Yesterday the national guard was walking around the waterway before they opened the gates and picked up bird nests with eggs to save them from drowning, what a beautiful thing.

How much can Louisiana take?? We are tough and can get up and start over as many times as it takes. Now if a Hurricanes comes before we get this water out of here I will be typing from another region.

Little Hank graduates tomorrow and he was honored for his achievements, his 4 years at LSU are paid for, gradutes with higest honors and scholarships. whoo hoo

Hugs from a really proud Grandmother.

Back to The Routine

Good morning, took Dixie for a bath today as it will be raining tomorrow, she doesn,t like stormy weather, on the other hand I do cause that is quilting time. I am still making silk purses, I have 5 more in the small design, will up grade to a larger purse next week. We made a UFO list of things we will be doing in the next few months, Steve had to take a nap when we finished talking. I can see what a help he will be.

The first thing is take all the machines to the cottage so he can start oiling and repairing what needs to be done. The weather will be nice next week so we will be washing down the outside of the house with the pressure washer. The bricks are green about 30 inches up. I am saving the interior painting until July.We reorganized the office yesterday, have box to donate and big box to burn and 7 boxes going to Hanks. We will be picking up a log of logs next weekend to split for fire wood next winter.

Today I am vacumning, washing dog beds and doing regular laundry. I have some fresh squash to cook yummie love fresh and free.

Little Hank has an awards program tomorrow and graduates Monday, have to design that LSU queen size quilt sometime this coming week, has to be finished by August 6th. Way to go Girl.

Good morning BRO. Have a nice day and pick a small job and complete it.

Kool Day

Can you believe it is in the 50's, thank goodness, makes you feel great. I have a lot on my list today so am getting a early start, thats my story and I am sticking to it. Rickie the cay is still in the hospital, will check on him later today. He was doing a little better yesterday, heart worms in a cat are different than in a dog they attack the lungs right away. Good luck Richtardo as we call him affectionly.

Dixie, fat dog, is having her after breakfast nap, what a life eat sleep, eat, poop sleep, etc......We love that dog she travels well, just gets up at 5:30am.

Made 3 miles of binding last night, Steve tried to help me wind it, finally I had to make him drop it, he was tugging and pulling, can't do that with fabric, it gets all loppie-loppie. The back of this quilt is stripes, the binding is a plaid and the front is florial  stripes all are yellow , blues and white. This is all left over pieces for a quilt done 17 years ago, second quilt from the left overs. REPURPOSING!!!!!

Sheryl's surgery has been moved to this morning, prayers are in order for her success.

Bro get some gas in your can so Steve can cut your grass.

Have a great day!

Getting Ready Getting Ready

Getting ready for a trip to New Orleans with my Bro to the VA. I was soooooooo tried from the trip to Baton Rouge to the VA I had to nap about 7pm for 20 minutes, to much traffic and sitting. This is the last trip, as I have stuff to take care of at home.

Got another wooden chair and picked  up the orange paint and picked out the fabric for the seat from the cottage. It will be simply beautiful, will do it tomorrow after weight watchers. I feel thinner, can't wait to weight in. Can you believe a chunky girl wants to weight in, who knew ??????? It is a great program and Steph, your charts are going in the mail today.
