Secrets from Louisiana

So glad you have stopped by for a visit. We have many secrets here in Louisiana. We are a quilters haven because of all the interesting things we have in our environment to see, smell, taste and feel. Our flowers are like perfume in the evening and the colors explode in your eyes. Our seafood is the best in the world and is bountiful from the Gulf.

The palette is non stopping.

Pocket Rocket

One of those days , hit the floor running @ 5am, what a way to enter the world. Had my gallon of coffee and oatmeal, stired the woodstove, got dressed and spent the next 15 minutes tring to fine my wedding ring that fell on the floor, the carpet swalloed it up. Found it and realized the carpet smelsl like Dixie, will have to clean it after Christmas.
Getting ready to leave for Texas on the 10th returning on the 19th, San Antiono here we come. It is beautiful in Texas at Christmas time, they really put out the lights. My house is done since last Friday and the gifts are ready to wrap. All will be done before I leave for when we caome back we will have the little ones for a week, I love when they come we stay really busy doing fun stuff! I tell them I am the fun grandma. Little Hank will be home for a month from LSU so will do some big boy stuff with him.
Did well with WW during the holiday and my piece of pecan pie didn't even taste good, 11 points of waste. I loved having family over, that was the best.

All Done

Sorry I have been gone soooooooooo long! Christmas shopping all done! Thanksgiving completed 15 at the table, went really smooth, cut the menu down to basic foods. Big Hank brought the fried turkey(did you think in Louisiana we bake the bird?) and dressing.  My niece and her husband came for the first time with their new baby and their toddler, very nice. My Nicolas and Naomi were missing but came the next day, had a GREAT visit.

I recycled  the food this morning, a pie with dressing on the bottom, turkey and gravy, then cranberry sauce, then a pie shell, bake @ 350 for 45 minutes. Mashed the sweet potatoes, and made a soup with turkey broth, broc., turkey and some carrots. Baked chicken breasts and baked the "old" apples. Done for the week! Thats how I like to cook. I will pass the pecan pie to Mike and Steve will get the apple pie. DONE!!!!!

Now to get to the quilts that need to be quilted. I will be using the Elna 7300 with the built in walking foot. I will also be using the computer for deals and steals today. Thats my plan and I am sticking to it.
Will be in touch!

New Day

The mattress came today and the new sewing machine came Saturday, whoohoo. I sooooooo needed that new mattress and I sooooooooo wanted that Elna 7300 Pro Quilting Queen, now I have to learn how to use all the special features. My friend Jayne has one and has said she will help me , I have to see things happen not read /or have someone tell me. Does that make sense? Feel free th join in.

I am putting rows together on my purple flannel quilt, a fun one, take pieces out of a bag and sew them together, what liberating feeling this is, no more has to be just so and following a pattern, just quilting for fun.  am loving it.

Have a great day and hugs!

I am a HAPPY GIRL. My visit with my friend Andre was wonderful, she treated me like a queen, THANKS again sweet lady.

WE have Barbara and Mike M from Texas, now full time in their 1996 Bluebird staying for a while, what fun they are. They should be from Louisiana ,they love to eat and eat we have.  Back to WW tomorrow.

I have to reorganize and design my house sewing area for my new machine, will start on that tomorrow. I will be looking at mattresses tomorrow, need a new one and Sears has 18 months no interest, my kind of sale. Next we need 4 new tires for the bus, we had a blow out on the way home so will be looking for a wholesaler some where Wish me luck!

I bought some Titanium needles in Houston will let you know how long they last.

Have a wonderful day and GO SAINTS AND GO NEW ENGLAND (Barbara)

Home Again for One Day

What a life, God has been good to me and mine! WE travel, have a warm place to sleep , healthy food  to eat , money to pay bills and FUEL money for the bus. Did I mention electricity to run my sewing machine so I can use up my fabric before I am 100 yrs old.

This morning was a rocket in the pocket morning, got up at 5:45, put on the coffee and put out Dixie. Took a bath, got dressed, put on my face, and cooked breakfast, ate and put on the laundry(7:15am)and dropped Dixie off for a bath. Returned and dusted and vacumned the entire house. Put  a roast in crockpot and chicken breast in the oven to bake. (9:10am) The only things I have left to do are blow the porch and dog yard and pack for Houston. The rest of the day is MINE, all MIne think I will tie a quilt. I love days like this with the pocket rocket but the problem is most of my days are rocket days. The only draw back is I am in bed by 9:00pm and I miss the good shows on TV.

hugs to you all and borrow my rocket if you need to
