Secrets from Louisiana

So glad you have stopped by for a visit. We have many secrets here in Louisiana. We are a quilters haven because of all the interesting things we have in our environment to see, smell, taste and feel. Our flowers are like perfume in the evening and the colors explode in your eyes. Our seafood is the best in the world and is bountiful from the Gulf.

The palette is non stopping.

Rainy Cold and Time to Sew

The sweet children are leaving this morning and Mike and I are going to say goodby at the greatgrandmothers home. I have put all Christmas away and will finish the floors when the rain stops on Monday, yes 4 days of rain.I love this kind of weather. Nice fire going, soup on the stove, fabric piled up and a machine sewing well. What more do we need?????????

I am going to work on Naomi's doll today, she has a head with fabric hair, now to the body. This is a great project, came from Quilting Arts Magazine.I have to cut my fabric for the NYE Mystery for tomorrow and Saturday, fill my bobbins, oil my 1971 Bernina as she is the only one working well of my 3 Bernina machines. When we pick up my chair in Baton Rouge for the RV, I will drop off my other 2 for repair.Thats my plan!!!!!!!

I am looking forward to retreat on the 17th,the girls are really fun to be wiwith. I will be sitting with Dawn this year and really like her.I am already thinking about projects.....

To my girls on the west coast, stay warm and please be careful on the roads.
Ice is not nice except in snow cones!!!!!!!I miss you guys and only wish we were really rich and could visit regularly.Lets dream. The bus will stay parked with fuel as high as it is and so will my butt. I have lots to do and 10 new novels to read and lets not forget the fabric in the cottage.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU111111

WHEN THE SAINTS COME MARCHING HOME.........

What do you think about our boys in Black and Gold now??? What a tight game and hands off to Jimmy Graham and the team. Toooooooooo Bad Atlanta lets rock in the playoffs and let win on the second of January. Would like to be at that game.

I am watching the kiddies while Mike works this week up 4am and in bed by 9pm, thats the ticket. They are watching cartoon today and we took Christmas down. They helped me put it up before Thanksgiving, so it has been up more that a month. We are going to vacumn when Steve's takes the boxes to store.

Took an hour off and reconnected with my NP at a new doctors office, The doctor's name is Johnny Walker(Red Lable)isn't that funny????? I will have to find a new heart specilist when I need some regular tests performed and a new surg. to have a colon screen. No problem just routine stuff.
My new doctors office is a family practice. They seemed really nice.

I cut out a doll pattern last night and will think about it today and may start on it later in the week. The children go home on Thursday to Shreveport with Mary their other grandmother. They are a real treat to be with. Little Hank came to Play with them at lunch time , he was working at his Dad's down the street. My 3 grands love each other. Little Hank is so independent, he cooks and cleans and brings his own hot lunch to work.He will do fine at LSU next year.

I am still working on my Christmas Card list, hope to finish by tonight.

We had a wonderful supper with Jean and her family, thank goodness, I am ready to get back to my WW eating. Gave the Red Velvet Cake to Andrew and the Sour Cream Cake and the pecan pie went to Michael. Now all that is left is chicken salad sandwishes.

had a wonderful visit with my family on Christmas Eve, my guys were so funny and the children were great. Divie did wonderfully with the children, she only wants to eat Mike , must be his big voice....She is a wonderful dog, really sweet and take directions well.

Little Hank came over late when he got back from Texas with his Mom.Nice visit. I will see Naomi and Nicolas Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as Mike will be working so it is up at 3:30 for 3 days.I don't care as I am a early riser anyway, "The Days Are A Wasting" if you sleep late, who said that??? My wonderful Grandmother Laura. Up before the chickens and down with sun, her motto!!!!

I am going shopping this morning for the doorbuster sales, and then I am going to be sewing a while, I have a tabletop for Christmas that needs finishing and then binding and finish my holiday cards. I don't have to cook, meatballs and speg. and eggplant in frin and of course sandishes.
ThankGod only 2 servings of potato salad(my personel favorite) left.

Got it home left it on the trailor covered for another day. The old gray mare ani't what she used to be!!! Had a great day made bookmarkers today to go with the books I am giving for Christmas. The pattern was in the Quilting Arts Christmas issue. I am going to make everything in that book. Love it!!!!

Yes Barbara you "P"'s are doing great and the Ravens were too much for us, now we play the best of the best this weekend Atlanta. I can only pray for this one. We need Chris Ivory back and healthy.

Worked on the retreat today that is the first week in May. Should be nice.
Steve worked at Hank's today and little Hank stopped for a visit, I am going to miss that boy when he is at LSU next fall. I will just have understand 18 is sort of big for a baby, but he will always be my baby.

The first week in January I am going to live at the cottage, getting rid of UFO's and sorting fabric and getting rid of somethings that I don't use and will never do. Hold me to that Linda Miller.

Who Dat, Who Dat Game Day Down With the Ravens

Slept great all night!! What a joy at this age.Bonnie got back from Florida she called last night to thank me for all the stuff I hauled to her house yesterday as I won't have time this week. I took lunch to her husband yesterday and we had a great visit.. His cancer treatments are having a toll on him, he is frail but he enjoyed his Popeyes for lunch. It was a wonderful visit.

I am finished with everything for Christmas so I will tidy up the house this week and cut fabric for several mystery quilts and next week will be cottage week if the kiddies aren't here. UFO's Linda to keep or give away, nothing like a clean slate for a new year. heheheeee

Retreat will be at my house this coming year in April and the Microltel in Ponchatoula. We don't have enough for the retreat center, maybe next year we will. I have plenty of sewing room and we can cook and haul in food, life is easy when you quilt with your "sistas".

Everything Christmas this year, all quilts will be Christmas Fabrics or Christmas colors. I will be selling them in Georgia in October!!!That makes choosing fabric really easy. My NYE mystery will be, guess what colors red, green and white. I am so easy!!!!!

I am cutting doll bodys today, they are from The Quilting Arts Mag for December, I am enlarging them a little. Will let you guys know how they work out.

Cooking eggplant dressing today, just love that veggie, could eat it everyday, strange have eaten tomato soup for lunch all week, can't get enough, probably didn't eat enough tomatoes this summer!!!!

Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies

Another great day in Texas!!!!!! had a great leftover dinner of turkey and dressing with Tony and Joyce last night. The coach is clean and we have a mountain of laundry to do. We will stay in Texas until Friday then we will head home and arrive on Saturday. Dixie has been a great traveler and earned a new bed and halter, of course it is hot pink for a "rocking Girl".

We sent Al Johnson to Tania and Armand's to check buses, good thing some were not working. That would have been a really BAD thing. We are looking forward to seeing our buddies on Sunday. I am missing my kiddoes also. We have had comments on the texts and facebook.

I have to wrap my gifts when I get home and sit back and plan our Christmas party for my family on Christmas Eve. I have a quilting party next Thursday and have to remember to bring rolls and breads and a gift.
Also next week is a day of beauty, I will need it, my hair which is naturally wild and really lived up to its nature, WILD and WOOLly. Is that me??????????????

I put Joyces' together in 30 minutes. Will I ever do this again, do you have to ask! NO WAY. I am a quilter who can make adjustments at the needle and plan on staying that way. Love these gals but got a headache which I don't usually get.

Well alls good and I have to pack the bus for rolling.
