Secrets from Louisiana

So glad you have stopped by for a visit. We have many secrets here in Louisiana. We are a quilters haven because of all the interesting things we have in our environment to see, smell, taste and feel. Our flowers are like perfume in the evening and the colors explode in your eyes. Our seafood is the best in the world and is bountiful from the Gulf.

The palette is non stopping.

Good morning

It has been a while since i wrote on my blog. Things have been crazy here in Louisiana. Two floods in less than 6 months.  Who would have thought that could have happens. My brother is in a safe place for another 18 months, thank God. Michael has gutted the almost completed house from the march flood. Now to do it all over again. What a job. There are sum other things going on, can't talk about them at present. Will posted as they develop.

Jackpot

Fran has moved on and doesn't have room for her quilting things. She sorted and gave 95% away or for me to donate about. She had enough blocks people had given her that I sorted and will have enough for 20 tops. WHOOHOO Gave away her whole stash , 2 giant totes of fat quarters and enough stuff to start a studio. She gave me an iron and a case, putting matt and ironing matt.  I won't have to cut a quilt till 2018

I will be bringing so many door prizes to Pomeroy, mailing them up to Rather Bees early. So show up it will be like shopping at Christmas.

Great Monday

Great Monday because it is not raining! Put a boarder on a sofa quilt and will try to pin it today, have a second one waiting, love my days off, may have to make that a reality.  My friends Renee and Mary brought me a sweet scrap bag on Friday night before we went to supper. I am thinking about putting it to good use maybe this afternoon.

I cooked for the week yesterday, sort of went crazy: 2 full chicken pot pies, turkey breast, cornbread dressing, gravy, potato salad, bean salad, and pecan pie. A for me an array of vegetable dishes for the week. This is what I do on Sundays. Monday is house cleaning most of the time but we have rain for 5 days forget the floors. hahaha.

Welcome any new members email me and let me know you have joined. Renee give Mary the site please.

Good morning sisters it is a beautiful day of course for any type of quilting.  I am so stoked about your mystery for Pomeroy in September I made a second one in steps for you sweet ladies. WE will have some new comers for the retreat,  We have Renee, Mary, Rosie, Andre, Mell and of course patticake. I spoke to Margie and she is really excited that my crew is coming. You guys will love them really friendly and love quilting except for Mell she will be reading and messing with hair probably. She is coming because she has had to listen to me talk about how much we love each other.

Now for the mystery WHOOHOO here we go fabrics first.

I used 2 large floral prints in different color ways but would have some colors similar.

From one cut (5) 8 1/2 strips the width of the fabric. Now cut (20) 8 1/2 squares .

From the second large floral print do the same. It takes about yard and a half for each.

Moving on:

Now chose 4 fabric that will be next to your florals in each color way , you will have 8 fabrics 1/4 yard of each.
Cut (2)  2 1/2 strips from each of your 8 fabrics the width of your fabric. You will have 16 strips.

Next:

Pick a really knock  your socks off fabric bright but not busy. (I picked a color that was least seen in my big blocks.
Cut (15) strips  1 1/2 inches by the width of the fabric.

Boarder Cuts:

You pick a boarder fabric.

Cut (8) 4 1/2 strips the width of the fabric.

Binding:

Cut (7) 2 1/2  strips color of your choice.

This quilt will be 64 x 74 inches.

Now you have some shopping to do.

Hint my big squares are  very bright.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers day even if you are not a mother! My day or I should say my weekend has been wonderful. Party on Sat. afternoon,  Michael and Carrie power washed my dog/flower yard, Hank delivered a beautiful basket of flowers, and Steve and I watched a mo vie at home. Today Mike and Carrie took us to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and Fran delivered gifts and a card and a plant. Carrie brought plants yesterday.  Busy and Nice!

I am cutting the mystery again. Get Ready pick 2 large prints of florals,  cut the width of the fabric 8 1/2 inches, cut 5 strips of each fabric. Recut these into 8 1/2in. squares.  makes 40 plus together. now just sit tight till the next instruction  comes. Have a great day!!!!!

Good evening sweet sisters! It has been a long time i promise to do better. I am working on a mystery for the retreat in Pomeroy Washington in September. It is so fun. I will posting the fabrics and the cutting here on my blog so keep watching if any of you are still there. Email me and let me know. My friend will be flying with me and Andrea has donated a entire tote of door prizes for the retreat. Probably $500 worth so if you can come please do. The retreat is September the 7th  through the 12th. it is very reasonable we split the cost which amounts to almost nothing less than $100 dollar. RatherBees is an old church, quilt shop on on the top floor retreat on the bottom. Thats all for now.     Hugs Patticake
