Secrets from Louisiana

So glad you have stopped by for a visit. We have many secrets here in Louisiana. We are a quilters haven because of all the interesting things we have in our environment to see, smell, taste and feel. Our flowers are like perfume in the evening and the colors explode in your eyes. Our seafood is the best in the world and is bountiful from the Gulf.

Been really busy feeding theone armed bandits at the Casino and visiting with my friends in the Lonestar Birds. What a great group of people to spend days with. There 3 coaches left today and will leave tomorrow for home. I want to stop in Shrevport and see the young ones if possible. I will call to see is I can make arrangements with Melissa by phone tomorrow.

Hi brother hope you are doing well, hope the a air is  working fine. The weather is really hot everywhere down south. I will be home probably by Wednesday. Hope there are no storms in the gulf  to worry about, we don't get much TV weather here as Steve cancled the direct TV in the bus for the summer.

Busy Monday

Well it is mid-morning and I have cleaned and steamed the floors, dusted, and cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms. I also was the spotter in the bus as Steve put more air-conditioner fluids in the bus air we use when we are rolling and rolling we will be in a few days. I am now doing all laundry that needs to be done and am washing the dog beds. I grocery shopped yesterday evening and will load the cold food tonight. YES I have rockets in my pockets today! I hope I never wear down, hope my batteries stay charged till I am 100 plus. What a though, 3 feet tall, gray/white nappie hair and a mouth that doesn't stop, got the picture, not pretty.

Hay Bro that was sweet of you  and Stevie calling your brother n law and wishing him a happy fathers day. Very nice in deed. We stayed home yesterday and enjoyed the day by ourselves. Mike ate with Steve on Friday and Hank ate with Steve on Sat. Little Hank took big Hank out to eat yesterday by themselves, very nice in deed!!!!

I will be leaving  so if anyone needs me call my cell phone, don't know how long I will be gone so I will keep you posted by the blog or cell phone. When I come back we will start painting the inside of the house. That is July's assignment.

I will be starting a new rug today, just love making them.

Hugs until tomorrow Patticake

My friend Britt I hope you mend well and we are are thinking about you.

Happy Fathers Day

We just fueled the bus with 80 gallons, that is all it needed to fill to 300 gallons, hallaloulla for that. I wiped the inside down and cleaned the bathroom, will vacumn when we are finished loading it. Toooooooooo hot outside at the moment so later today will be just fine. I will bag up the dry goods and pack frig tomorrow between cleaning house, can't go on a trip with a  not pristine house to come home to, afterall Betty Clever might visit.
I am going to pick out some more fabric for a Christmas rug and a Halloween rug, these are fun to make and they use up all of your old bobbins. I am all about using up what you have.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE DADS OUT THERE!!!!!!!! Now let me tell you some of my favorite Daddyisms from my wonderful Dad. If you never met Henry Thomas Boyle, you missed an opportunity of a life time! He was a small man in statue about 5foot 6 inches and about 145 lbs. an iron worker from a very large poor family of 19. He only went to the 3rd grade but worked his way up to a well paying position with Boh Brothers Construction Co. He was a rounder in his early days but a great family man in his married period. He lived to 81 years. He use to wishper things in my ears and sang to me every night when I was little. I grew up thinking I was the most beautiful girl in the world and that I could  accomplish any thing in the world. And I did!.Some of the things he would tell me were that education was the key to life being great, with an education I would not have to depend on a man to take care of me, being educated I didn't have to take crap from anybody, an education would make me strong so as far as the education he paid right through graduate school. He said take your time decieding what you want out of life and do it right the first time..........I miss him and I miss dancing with him, he was the BEST!!!!!!The best song was "Beautiful Brown Eyes", when I want to feel him close I sing it to myself.

Have a wonderful life and if your parents are alive, enjoy every second.

Hello

Sorry I have been gone soooooooooooo long, busy week! Getting ready to leave and had a lot to do and still have a lot to do. Steve wanted to leave early so he wouldn't have to drive 12 hours in one day, getting old!!! Me to don't like to ride that long either 6 is good for me also. Can't believe we are leaving a dry 100 degree plus area to go to another even hotter place, well what can I say, Casino pulling us there.

I made a rug yesterday and it is wonderful, will probably make several more, probably a Halloween one and a Christmas one. The one I just completed is sunflowers. Took me 5 hours and my shoulders are sore today, a lot of stitchen. It is the koolest project, after you finish you wash it and dry it and it comes out fluffie as can be like the old bedspreads. Way tooooooooo kool!

Today we are going to a political rally because ther is free food. It is a friend of ours and Steve is big into free political food. I on the other hand could care less. We will be taking some great food with us to Oklahoma, as I am sure their tomatoes don't taste anything like ours. hahaaaaaaaaa

Just talked to my favorite cousin Bonnie, her husband Donald is going for more tests this week, they have had their hands full>We are are praying for them

Armond has another blockage in one of his new stints, will have that taken care of next week, he is under the weather today.

Happy   Fathers Day Bro hope you got your card .

Retreat is filling up as we speak. reservations will start on July 1 2011 so don't be left out. Just heard from 2 more yesterday. WOW we are rocking.

Good Sunday Morning

Hello all, another hot day in Louisiana, and what do we do on hot days, nothing but sew. We will have sandwishes for lunch and crab cakes for supper, ok have that out of the way and tonight I will bake cookies for my sweet computer repair guy Hal. Steve will putter around in the garage until he is ready to pass out and then retreat in side. I will organize my weeks activities and get ready and on schedule, remember how organized I am.

I should have my circles attached to the black base today and cut the boarder for sewing, I love their shapes. I will pay bills at the shop tomorrow and do Mike's banking for him and for me to get ready to leave. Hallaloulla for that can I get a A-MEN on that. I am not one to get cabin fever but I got it now, I think Armonds condition for the last 7 months have really affected all of us in different ways.

Armond is up and dressed and puttering about , that is a great sign.

Have a wonderful day speek kindly to each other.

PROGRESS

I got my side of the closet in the famous end room emptied out in the mess in the big room, found Steve's model collection now have to find a place to store it.haha you didn't think for one minute he would get rid of it. Found the hot wheel collection, that goes to Nicolas and all the big Tonka Toys to the little boy next door. The train sets and extra cars go to the the train guy in town and the windows, screens and folding doors go to Habitat for resale.

A good morning work, and it was HOT in that closet ,it 24 feet long and 4 feet wide. We will insulate it and roof below the air space when I get to Steve's end of the closet, can't even open his door, will have to go throw my door. He has a ton of crap blocking the door. He tried ti leave when I started but I made him help for 30 minutes. Now it is to hot so on with a within the air conditioned house for more work.

I will work in the closet in the computer room this morning and then on to quilting and such. Dixie went for a bath this morning, she really, really needed one, what a hound dog smell.Love her anyway.

Have a great weekend, Armond is home and we will visit him this evening. His numbers improved so maybe no transplant, we will keep praying.

HUgs , be nice to someone today!

The weather radio went off about 15 times yesterday evening, big bad lightning and thumder and rain. We are green again. Just stepped away to trim my parsley plant that had tried to go to seed because of the heat and dryness , now it can give me more leaves. We may have more storms today so will be watching and listening for the alerts. We even had hail not a good sign.

We have Wayne for the day as Hank is is tinting his motorhome today.  Moe is also here, he is a trip. I will be sewing and scrapbooking  some today and just wasting time. heheeeeeeeeee

I will be checking on Armond today so will be giving you an update tomorrow.

A Busy Monday Morning

I am all about saving money when I shop!(Not on Fabric) Albertson's grocery had 2ggs 88Cents a dozen, buns 39 cents and Bounty towels 5.99 for 8 big rolls, well I was all over these. Next stop Target, bagged salads by one 2.99 get one free, steamable veggies in the bag 1.49 a bag, well I was all over these. Next stop Everthings a Buck, bread day, 8 loaves for us and my brother, he was just putting them out, happy dance. These included rye, sourdough, whole wheat, 40 calorie wheat and extra fiber wheat, what a selection. Next stop Vets Office, Heartguard buy 12 get 2 free and flee stuff but 12 get 4 free, large 17 lb CD dog food 1/2 price and 24 cans CD regular price. Dixie has bladder and kidney issues so she is on a specila diet. I am good for the month except for milk and fresh tomatoes and letteuc stuf.f .Pantry is full and freezer is adquate.

WE have fuel in the bus, big blue and the caddy, the s ten needs fuel, but we have it tucked away in the big building for now so if a storm comes we are rolling, rolling, and rolling. We can drag it behind the bus till we get to a stopping location. We have plotted our routes in several direction on back roads so we don't get stuck in traffic. We have different deductables when it comes to named storms so that has been considered and taken care of. Steve is going to have a fit but I will be packing a zillion quilts in the s-ten and about 5 good machines plus other quilting stuff. What would I do with my time if everything blows away????????
Gotta be prepared.

Paper work is all filed  and ready to put on board, taking records for 2011 with me.I have a feeling it is going to be an active season so get ready.

Armond has made some small improvements, will only have to have dyalasis 2 times a week instead of 3. I am still very concerned . He has gotten everything in order for Tanya including his funeral arrangements. She has power of Attorney now. He is trying to take care of everything from his hospital bed.

Our friend Brenda has been battling cancer for 20 years and they have given her 90 days to live, there is nothing more they can do in Texas. She and her husband Billy have been in the car clubs with us forever. She is younger than I am. What a fighter, hopes she find peace finally.

Steve and I are entertaining our friend Wayne and his dog Moe this week, he took us to supper last night, I had a plain baked potatoe and a bowl of turnip greens at cracker barrel. It is nice to have him plugged into our camping spot for a visit. Two old men , 2 dogs and me! What a week to look forward to.

I just peeled some big boiled shrimp, don't get excited it is about a dozen for putting in a salad.

Have a great week and Bro see you wed for grass cutting give  your brothernlaw some water while he cuts.
Pay him for your bread $4.

Love and hugs

Up Early

Good Sunday morning, hope you rested well. I am sleeping like a rock these days. Steve and I visited Armond and Tanya in the hospital yesterday and came home and are soooooo concerned about his condition. His heart is not in very good condition, they have taken steps to prepare for not getting better and she will be in a position to handle what ever comes along. It is the correct thing to do but is scarey for such a young couple.

Steve and I went to the quilt shop and I signed up for a class coupon $60 for unlimited classes till December. I never take classes as usually they are tooooo expensive, but this way I have fabric so I just need the pattern, signed up for 3 so already I am 30 dollars ahead. WhooHoo. First class is a rug class, applique, art quilt made with fabric and paper.

It has been over 100 everyday  so in the house another day, you can't breath in this heat and it is only june it should be about 88 degrees. I am sure I can find things to do. Made Steve a great smelling bread pudding last night, the hold house smells like it. It is 165 calories as compared to some that are 560 calories. Gotta watch that intake.

Think I will make another circle thing (block) , in aqua this time. Wish I knew what I was going to do with them, gotta just keep making them. just fun!

98 days till I fly out west for retreat WHOOHOO

Have a great day and do something nice for someone even if you don't want to!

The little storms kick ass and as dry as the ground is the trees are not in good standing.A tree rat just came down to get a drink from the dog tub, glad to help out.hahaaa

A Entire Week

Well, I have a lot to report. My computer was hacked by someone in Germany and they unhooked a lot of things, my trustie Hal down at the computer shop fixed it right up so now I will be baking him some cinn. sugar cookies this coming week.

Next  I had the kids for a, week(Don't know why it is writing like this) had a great time planned activities every day, they slept great every night. We did a water pad, swimming pool at Mel's,Children's museum called Discoveries(Best 18 dollars I have ever spent) played games, baked cookies, watched movies, ate popcorn(a lot of it) and learned several life lessons.I didn't vacumn once can you believe it??????? Dixie loved playing with them and they spoiled her rotten. She has been looking for them all day.

I asked sweet Steve if I should clean house today and he said we will do it tomorrow, take the day off so I went to Mell and had my nails done and my hair.whoohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Armond has been moved to a rehab hospital and is receiving Dyaslis(Spelling?) 3 times a week, we visited with him last night and he thinks his days are limited. Had a long heart to heart with him last night, I am great for cheerleading, hope it sticks, would hate to lose a brother. I tried to explain that a lot of folks have conjective heart failure and live carefully and for a long time.He probably will not work again and will be disabled but that is okay,I told him it is like getting a retirement check with health benefit. LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE, I will be fighting for my last breath when the time comes. I told him if I had the choice between cancer of heart problem, his condition can be medically managed, cancer is a bitch. Thank God we are not addressing that issue.

The weather, june is not suppose to be 100 degrees plus and that is what we have had for a week and no real rain for 48 days. WHATS UPP with THAT???

How am I GREAT! Enjoying ewvery minute of my life every day.
