Secrets from Louisiana

So glad you have stopped by for a visit. We have many secrets here in Louisiana. We are a quilters haven because of all the interesting things we have in our environment to see, smell, taste and feel. Our flowers are like perfume in the evening and the colors explode in your eyes. Our seafood is the best in the world and is bountiful from the Gulf.

The palette is non stopping.

What a great Day

Queen Bees had their meeting today and it was wonderful to see some old friends and make some new ones through out the day. I also got some sewing in also. We have some of the most talented quilters in the world in our group. Show and Tell was fab. The quilter of the month just left us breathless with her quilts, what talent she displayed. I am so sorry I won't be back probably till January if I don't get a teaching assignment.

All is well here on the home front, rain and thunder but al least it cooled the temps down a lot. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Hello Ladies

I am still alive just very busy. Know what I am doing surprise just getting along with life. I have been to another retreat this time with some of my SewNSew Sisters in Oregon. My friend Andre flew with me for a week of sewing and sewing we did. Andre shopped and shopped till she had to buy another suitcase. (It was her first time to the Sisters Quilt Show, this happens to all first timers.)

WE are all good down here in Louisiana. IT is terrible hot so we stay inside a lot. I have finished 2 queens, 3 sofa, 9 tabletoppers and 2 twin commission quilts. I have the 2 pillow shams left to do. But you know me I have 2 stacks of lovely fabric calling to me , "cut me first". So this afternoon I am looking over patterns as we speak.

Stay well!

Hello All sorry it has been so long since I have posted. Between quilting and my new adventure with the ThirtyOne Gift Company, I have been having a ball. You can see why I am having fun just go to my ThirtyOne Gifts site and my number is #430527 if you see something you would like to have. We have a great summer catalog.

Retreat was fab as usual. Way to go girls, we know how to have fun. The giftees were so kool. I keep playing with mine. I have them in a special basket. Thanks so much sweet quilting Sisters. I am finishing up on mthe blocks for the matching twin quilts for my friend Marlyn Davis. Need 160 and have 130, will try to knock them out this week so I can assemble the quilts next week and get them to Lee Demars before the June Hot Rod Power Tour so when I come back just have the binding to do.

All is well in my kingdom at the moment. Fran had a colon check and a upper GI today, did well. Boys are all working that is a blessing. Steve is waiting on approval for a med that will give him some "get up and go" and the grands are great. I am rocking along as they say.

Keep in touch!

Sorry for the Leave of Absence

Good afternoon a lot has happened since my last post. More ice and more ice and freezing weather. Today we will be back in the 30's and it is the middle of March. I am getting ready for the retreat in Branson Mo. 9 more days. I am packed and will finish up a few things here at home.

Andre and myself will fly to Sisters Or in July to join Steph and Kathy for a week of quilting and of course the quilt show. We are looking for flights now. Steve and I will be in Marble Falls in April and then on To Colorado Springs towing Hank's car for repairs. Don't ask I know isn't there anything closer?????

Have been really quilting and reading what to do in cold weather and putting logs in the wood stove.

Our health is good and we celebrated our 49 wedding Anni. on FEb 27th. whowho

We laugh a lot about getting older ( I am fighting it tooth and nail) As Steve says we sometimes wobble but we try not to fall down.

More snow on the Way!

Good morning all, can you believe more snow and ice in less that a week and a half in South Louisiana. We are prepared, we split 3 truck lots of oak with the help of my wonderful son Michael. We were all stoved up last night, for you city girls that means stiff. WE will have wood heat even if the power goes out.

MY teaching job is the bomb for real they are little monsters. I am in week 4 only 2 more after this yepee!!!! What was I thinking crazy  girl. I spend more time punishing that teaching. It wasn't this way years ago. Society has hits a real low.

Quilting is great. Working on a special order for 2 matching twin quilts for an RV with pillow shams. Quilting a insane Y seam quilt, and having dozens flying through my head.

Steve is good, Hank and Michael are doing fine. Business is good. I have a new fun line called Thirty One I am selling really nice bags.

Ready for work!

Catching Up

With a sad heart I am reporting that my dear friend Marge from Star Buck Washington buried her wonderful husband today. They had been married for a zillion years. He will be sadly missed. Ivan was a giant of a man but was as gentle as a sweet man could be. I plan of talking to her on Monday.

I will begin work teaching on Tuesday at the same little school that I was at last year. I will be at that position for at least 8 weeks. The last week in march is my retreat  in Branson so I will be at retreat. We are all fine, the weather has really been cold . This coming week we are looking at 19 degrees, way to cold for south Louisiana.

I am quilting and planning a mystery for retreat. House is in order and clothes are ready for work.

The cyst that I had surgery for last March came back. I wore new shoes in December and they rubbed the cyst and it became enlarged and during the night it exploded and disappeared. What a blessing. Thank God for small things.

Hugs and Happy New Years
